Does instant transportation effect game immersion?

read 2 threads above yours. This is an -M M O- not diablo. The journey, even if its repetitive, is part of an MMO. Once you instant-port everything, the wonder of the world dissappears. Now no offence to FFXIV but they definately aren't winning people over with their battle system, so the "wonder of the world" or put another way "the classic FF world feel" is important.

The classic FF world feel would include me having my own airship that I can take out when ever I would like and fly wherever I want.

So unless they plan to give me that, I don't see how crummy 10 min paid for flights helps your case anymore then an instant flight does. They are equal to each other in terms of FF feel, neither have any.

they had intended to do this (or at least have some form of building airships) at release... just sayin.

And to all the people complaining about 10 minute rides. They have not and probably will not announce how long an air ship ride will take. It was 3 minutes in FFXI. It just felt like 10 because of the wait time between ships. I in no way advocate a wait time between airships. I think One should dock within 30 seconds of that previous one taking off.
