Does instant transportation effect game immersion?

I didn't really read anything after the OP, so take this input with a grain of salt: Quick travel does not harm my feeling of "being there" any more than:

Standing in a field for five straight (game-)days beating the shit out of anything that moves.
Only eating right before I punch something in the face.
Never taking a leak.
Never sleeping.
Disintegrating my body and travelling through invisible veins of aether to crystal gates.
Riding giant chickens that never seem to crap on the path.
Lalafells.
