Does instant transportation effect game immersion?

Yeah, you're distracting from the issue by making it seem more complicated than it is.

The issue is simply one of enjoying the journey. You would like to enjoy it, and I'm telling you there's absolutely nothing stopping you.

If you don't like teleporting, then don't. There's nothing standing in your way from moving around as slowly as you like. What does it matter to you how fast anyone else travels?

Your enjoyment shouldn't come from impeding others.

again i can make the same argument about levelling. Why should you care if i auto-level? Its not impeding your game play? why should you care if i get all the best gear in the game instantly?

The reason i care is because it ruins the whole feel of the game. It also lessens the chance that they will ever generate content based on the airship and will just leave it empty to please the -few- people who will ride it once. It also hurts the game in general. Instant travel ruins the sense of adventure that FFXI had. And this game isn't competitive enough to lose that.
