I agree that guildleves are dumb, but hopefully they are moving away from it. Although, i am not really worried about all this stuff until they can fix the servers, no content is worth it until the game is fluid. I treat everything as a filler right now, they are just eye-candy and short-lasting.

No, i cant name any upcoming special feature (maybe materia, but its enchanting system really lol), but opinion like "How do you feel the world as a whole?", it will be probably better to ask people that havent touch this game before. We might felt there isnt much because we've experienced the old contents, for newcomer they might get overwhelmed with the content we currently have.

For people who prefer Instant Airship, i wanna hear your view on the following:

What if they take the airship out of it, take the port out of it and instead place a NPC at the "departure" and NPC at the "arrival" of all the area? you talk to npc > loading screen > npc? surely you wont missing anything right?

Now, lets do same thing for Chocobo(pay npc, arrive at a decided location(oh yeah, you choose location on the chat text when you talk to npc)).

Now same for Levequest, port to Aetheryte > click on Aetheryte > loading screen > mobs, kill mobs > loading screen > aetheryte.

Now do something similar to dungeons and i can get things done faster!

    ------

I think the main argument isn't about spending quality time on Airship or Boat(heck, unless im camping a boat NM, i usually go afk), its about having everything fast forwarded to making things seems faster and small, if they set this as standard, future content will be instant stuff("man, why don't they have a aetheryte by the dungeon, its a drag to run thru all these all high level monsters"), because they are growing the player base in a "fast food" type of environment. Of course this will kill everything in the future with long goal oriented content("this is taking too long to get this item to drop, they should have made a npc sell it"), along with a longevity of the game.. get things fast, quit and move on seems like most players mind set.

Oh yeah, please stop saying "don't use it if you don't want to".. if its there it will be used.. its like when you make your character screen, it says

"Option 1: Start game naked with all classes level 1, 0 gil"
"Option 2: Start game with maxed classes, max gil"

Would you say Option 2 would kill the game? someone might say "it makes things faster.. i don't wanna spend time leveling and farming"

I probably over exaggerated but its something along the lines of things getting affected int he future because of how things are getting implemented.

Must agree that you exaggerated. We can't compare all things in the game the same way.

The whole point for chocobo's, Airship, Teleports are to get to the point B faster. They have never been put into a game for lore or anything else but faster travel. most people who need to use these fast travels are on some type of time limit and 10-15mins does matter. I can't tell you how many times people have been kicked or left behind because they couldn't get somewhere fast enough. In games time is of the essence people will not always wait for you because then you are wasting their time. So yes you need some type of instant travel in games. all games have them and always will have them. Yes airship rides and walking are nice the 1st couple of times. but be serious after you do it 2-3 times its just repeative and boring. take real life things for example. many ways to travel. walking is the best way to travel. you get good exercise, get to meet people, get to take your time and enjoy the journey. or you can take a car or bus and get there before the day ends and do what you need to get done. by the time you get done enjoying your lovely 30min walk to ul'dah. I could take the instant route and get done what I needed there and be doing other things making the most of my limited play time. If you seriously have more fun riding a 10 min airship or taking 30mins to walk from point A to point B. then getting to point B quickly and actually doing something. then you must be the most boring person on earth. I'm sorry not everyone has the same amount of time to waste on games and other things.

Once again most of you confuse Time with difficulty. walking from point A to B is never hard never was never will be. it just takes more time. why its called a Time sink. Something is hard when you can't do it alone. and even with others its still takes skill to do it correctly. If pushing W is hard for you or standing on an airship I suggest stop playing games.

Stop comparing FFXI to FFXIV the games have been different from day one. FFXI= they took there time and made it right. so of course its going to be better. XIV was released before it was even half way completed and that's the one and only reason that it failed. every other reason you guys keep coming up with ties into that. so yes of course its not going to have the lore and everything you had with XI, you're an idiot if you think otherwise.

    And one last thing.
Az will you please shut the hell up already about instant level ups and gear. you constantly make yourself look very stupid every time you say it. Just because people want to travel faster does not mean they want everything in the entire world to be easier or think it should. killing Enemies, Leveling up, getting gear is the CORE of the game without it there is no game. by that logic, I can say you want everything in the game to take A lot of time to complete. so lets add 6hour boss fights. and take years just to hit max level. lets Take out every way to travel and auto-run and make people walk everywhere. You see how stupid and Ridiculous that sounds? So please for your own good shut up.

So, Rhomagus, after all this All-out war you declared on this thread. Just a simple question, as Jynx has pointed out previously, you really don't see an issue with *Clap your hands* vanish from one city, *Clap your hands* appear in another city?
You really don't think that this is bad game design and it will harm the game and it's longevity when everything is a click away? Why even bother have different cities, may as well have one big city? (Hang on.. i know your tempted to dissect every lil comment) City is not just defined by it's content but by it's location as well, i'm sure you would agree to this. (Hold your temptation a bit longer..) I mean..you are forced to spend time to run from one guild to another in the city, Does it really make sense to you that you're forced to spend some time to run from one end of the city to the other but it's not acceptable to spend a little bit of time to travel from one city to another? (Now you can reply..coz it's all in context now)

By your logic, i could argue that very idea that running around in the city everytime from one spot to the other is an unneeded time-sink and that you are dictating my play when you don't give me the option to warp to any place in the city. Why not request to have npc's warp you into every guild in the city? Isn't that the concept? You accepted it for city to city travel when it takes around the same time (by a short airship ride) to travel within the city. So why not have insta everything everywhere? You may have not requested it but we could very well have other people requesting this, and we can say it's their right, the point of the matter is there should be a line drawn somewhere or you're pretty much screwing up the game, bluntly put. And when it comes down to this, call it dictatorship if you will, ill happily dictate it with my opinion if i feel its harming the success of the game, not just for me but for the masses.

Yes, i agree to the point that the game should not have mindless time-sinks, and a current example of that i would definitely agree to is current state of the game where:

    1) No chocobos to speed up movement around this massive world where you end up traversing the lands at a slow steady speed relentlessly.
    2) No Airships, meaning you have to spend 20 mins running through Eorzea from one city to the other.

These were definite time-sinks which hurt the game..and we were all dealing with them since launch, now come 1.19, SE actually fixed these mindless time-sinks. With the Airships, Cutting down time frame to travel one city to the other from like say, 20 mins to 5 mins, which is a huge shortcut in itself, but it's too much to handle? To me, i will agree with Azury and whoever else stated this is precisely asking for things to be handed on a silver platter, whether you agree or not, the fact is you're not willing to accept the little effort and time it should take you to travel from one place to the other. Let's not forget ofcourse SE provided us with the Anima system, where need-be you can instantly teleport to any city at a cost.. i think that's a fair compromise. Why should it all be so easy, dumbed down and instant?

This isn't just about Immersion anymore, there is a concept called Game balance too. In XI when you warped from one place to the other, you had to earn it through various accomplishments as has been previously stated, no one started with warp cudgels in their pockets, nor were these cudgels of infinite use and they had other limitations.

You really have to get out of this give me everything on a silver platter mindset because i have limited time, Games by their very nature involve a time-sink, especially so an MMO which is a massively multiplayer online-game where you're not the only one playing and a shortcut for you will harm the overall game balance for others. You can't see that? A simple point mentioned before were people had to choose between settling in one city over the other to complete leves for example and as a result had to often sacrifice leves in another city due to Anima limitations, this sacrfice by choice aspect which is an integral part of any game has been harmed by this insta port, now ppl will be warping instantly between cities without any hesitation, Granted the sacrifice has been reduced with a short ride and people can still hop from one city to another easily now but with some time constraints, airship flight time, ride time, etc. and that's fair and good. But to have insta port instanced, this is dumbing down the game and making it too easy when it's an online that game that seeks longevity, a game that should live for another 10 years should not be over-simplified like this, whether you think its a mind-sink or not, it serves other purposes which you either are unaware of or choose to ignore.

dude. focus. we are talking only about an airship ride. SO cut out about... no cut out all of your post and start over. Does waiting on a ship for 5 mins and having the option to skip that 5 mins really change the gameplay that much? keep it simple do not get confused. We are talking about an airship ride dude keep it steady on that.

Dude.. The point is, and i re-iterate other players concerns, it is dumbing down the game, whether it's 5 mins or not.
I am not confused. There is obviously multiple aspects to this issue, whether it's immersion or game-balance or whatever else the case may be.

    What's your big idea?

No the point is Dude you are over reacting to a airship ride. This does NOT dumb down anything. Your assuming it will and you are wrong. Read my sig. Its what happens every update and when this update is added you will soon see NOTHING has changed.

You are confused there is NOT multple aspects to this it is simple. You can skip a CS.. that is it.

Say.. out of curiosity, and i did read you sig before you told me to do so and i found it interesting.
I'm wondering, if they brought a new patch removing the instaport, would you have gotten over it fast?
