I never played FFXI, but that was a really nice story and it actually made me cry as well.
Rather than a race to the destination, it's really about the journey to get there -- and the friends with whom we travel along the way.
That's what makes every day fun.
That's what makes every day worthwhile.

wow lol i should not have watched that at work! so amazing.
This one was really nice. I remember seeing it long ago at some time and it was still great to watch.

That is what all of this is about isn't it?We all share a journey within the game (whether FFXI or FFXIV) with people we come to know as friends, having fun, exploring and learning together. It is sad to think that in reality a lot of this is lost over time along the way.
Part of what keeps me playing FFXIV at the moment (although the game is steadily improving) is the people I know and talk to in LS and vent, and the stuff we do just for the hell of it ^^
I have a lot of fond memories of journeys in FFXI- a friend running up to a cactuar in Altep thinking it was another person and getting one-shotted, climbing Delkfutt for the first time as part of the mission strand, reaching Jeuno for the first time on a low level job, taking at least half an hour to get a chocobo from Sandy to Windy because I didn't have my airship pass yet... so many things that make me smile because of the people I shared these events with.
I have some fun memories of FFXIV so far, but not that many on the road to 50. Let's hope there is the opportunity for more ^^
