They mentioned that the loot rules for Alexander period is going to be like CT Drops.

In other words, imagine being able to rerun coil as many times as you'd like, with no penalty to the amount of loot, until you get the drop you want. So overall its a much more "casual" experience. Not that it's bad. I'd take that over clearing all of coil on a Tuesday night and having nothing else worth doing for the rest of my week. It allows you to play more with other players outside your static, which I'd hope would generate a more open and enjoyable raiding scene as a whole.

tomes and alex nm should provide ilvl gear that will eventually get you to clear all content in the game up to alex nm with a minor start for alex hm then alex hm should givre the ilvl needed to complete that content

But that doesn't make sense. You don't need the best gear in the game if all you're going to do is sit around and run Primals, FATES, and dungeons all day. You want better gear than the base level, and that's understandable. You'll always have that, though. Relic weapons, tome gear, and 24-man gear (and now Normal mode Alexander).

The people who are interested in high-end content deserve adequate rewards for what they do, though. And I'm happy 3.0 is going this direction. What, it's fair for the 'casual' crowd to want raid gear, and highest level gear for half the dedication, but the 'hardcore' crowd can't want anything to show for their efforts? Now that is selfish. They find the strategies that work, they release guides, they spend progression getting antsy at each other, they spend day and night in some of the most handicapped conditions, trying to beat the odds. And in the end? You, for the most part, can't tell them apart from the rest of the people in the game.

I guess the simplest way to say it is... not having the best weapons and armor in the game won't kill you. It might even motivate you, or other players to improve so that they can get the gear that they want. It's not a bad thing, I don't think.

Also devs never said EVERYONE will beat it in 1-2 days, they just expect it to be beaten in that time frame. As in atleast one group will have it done by atleast the second day. If they still have things similar to T5 there will be plenty of people who won't be completing it.
Yoshida said at the nico nico thing that Alexander normal was for people to "relax and enjoy the story." It could be beaten multiple times each week and you get one piece of gear a week. It's pretty much the same as LFR in WoW. It's a mode designed so that everyone can beat it.

AKA: not difficult / easy mode.

The Alexander Hard Mode will be the one that's equivelant to coil in difficulty, or as Yoshi said. "About as hard as FcoB".

The hardest instances in the game should reward players with the absolute best gear; however, not all stats are evenly weighted. Using items that drop from coil to increase purchased gear to grow in strength is fair. HOWEVER again, 10 ilvls isn't enough. It must be a large enough increase. 20 ilvls at the least. Esoterics shouldn't be able to upgraded through casual alexander.

As a raider, I do like the idea of the -best- gear being put in raids. I don't feel there should be a huge disparity between raid gear vs. Tome gear, though.

The system we have right now is... Pretty good. I'd rather they keep upgrade items to the top tier raid, but I understand their logic and trying to catch people up. I like i130 vs i120 distinction as it's not a -huge- gap, but it is a noticeable one.

The thing is, when FCoB came out in 2.4, the only way to get ilvl 130 (whether it be dreadwyrm or augmented) was in FCoB. There was no other way to get the carbonstuff outside of FCoB until 2.5.

Unless you're referring to the natural degradation of making said gear easier to obtain as time passes, then I'd disagree, especially when you start to near the end of that patch cycle.

The last part is up in the air because some of the dreadwyrm pieces are just straight up bad for some classes. Some augmented pieces are instead BiS for my bard. But I wouldn't be able to get some of those anyway at the release of FCoB unless I was able to do FCoB for those carbontwines to begin with.

    From what I understand

Alexander Hard Mode will be equivalent to how difficult story missions are, Praetorium, Westwind, Steps of Faith, Hard Mode Primals, etc.

Alexander Savage Mode will be equivalent to a difficulty between FCOB -> Savage 2nd Coil

I don't presume to know what ilvls each of the 2 token sets will be.
