Jynx, we aren't asking to have the airship be accessible like nothing. They already said that there will be a quest for the chocobos and there will probably be one for the airships. The rite of passage thing is a valid concern, but it's not the topic at hand.

What we want is just to continue to be able to use the quick airship travel as an option once they implement the full airship ride. Yes the airship was special the first time we rode it in FF11, but after the 10th time or so it gets old and most of us would end up just AFK on it. We would rather not waste our time waiting around for the ride if we don't want to, and since its an option people that want to enjoy the view will still be able to do it.

You guys it breaks all logic, How can there be one boat that like splits in two and goes faster then one and the other goes normal speed that gets there 3mins later id onteven know!!!!! My head is gone. you have to make things make sense kinda like what i just wrote! RIGHT!

Don't think anyone brought up the issue of whether if it is necessary in design to even have an interactive duration for an airship ride. Whether if it has a duration for the ride or not should be as large of a concern oppose to what you can do on the ride itself.

Take a look at FFXI's airship, at best they had a repeatable quest where you return a lost package there. Only other event is during the Lunar New Year they have the old man there giving out scroll. Other than that, I do not recall any particular reason one would want to wander about the airship besides for sightseeing, or dicking around (running off the airship's ledge).

Or examine the activities you can partake on FFXIV's ferry right now. You can fish, craft, or just wander about and sit on a bench while riding a ferry. During the firefall event you could have shot a firework off the ferry.

The last thing I want to see happen to the airship ride is just eye-candy so people can have their 5 minutes awe by gazing at the vista, and then don't give half a rats ass about it for the next 10 years. If you don't think that would be the case just ride an FFXI airship now and see how many people actually wanders about on it.

If they wanted longevity and actual immersion for people riding the airships or ferries they would have adding some activities for the ferries by now. Such as why isn't there any other NPC besides the captain to talk to? What happened to the chaotic seas on the Limsa's opening scenes? Why isn't there a single boat out there as you are nearing Limsa, considering that Limsa's a port city? What you imagine riding a boat to Limsa should be just isn't there. Honestly, I am not given a sense of any sort of life while riding the ferry.

The only reason I can think of as to why it is so empty is because their only main focus is just to give people another mode of transportation. And what I fear is that this most likely what is going to become of the airship ride duration as well.

There doesn't have to be a time paradox going on or bending reality or whatever you would call it(I know its a game a fantasy game, but there still has to be some laws of nature). If you want something instant please use the anima SE gave you, if you don't have 1-5mins to spare(just guessing how long it would take to ride the airship). People will always have their own personal opinions about the future of FFXIV. Despite your sarcastic rendition of this topic which seems to be currently "DURP", you are re-iterating useless garbage to the masses.

ALL YOU/THEY NEED TO KNOW IS:

1) The Instant Transportation for Airships is temporarily the only option at feature launch (Patch 1.19).

2) YoshiP and Devs have already solidified that there will be future adjustments which will make available the option to have a scenic and interactive Airship ride. This is in keeping with their new philosophy that the players should have the say-so in regards to how THEY PERSONALLY experience their game. NOT how Rokien of Lindblum Server would want them to experience THEIR gameplay.

3) Furthermore, the Airship is being pushed not because NO OTHER METHOD OF TRANSPOARTATIONS EXISTS, but because Airships in FF Series is iconic to the series themata.

There would be no reason to take anything personal from anyone on the internet(or outside). What does Guilt have to do with anything? I want a game that makes sense. I'm sure everyone can agree to that. Its like cutting out the gut of a story, the end wont make sense. If they can do the airships in a working matter like that, then fine. They have to explain how 10000000 ships can come out of one dock(if it works like that, I'm just assuming just like everyone else.) Im sure they will do it right, but as of right now its terrible.
