i dont think calling them entitled is fair.. if joined by DF then thier feelings on how a run should work should be taken into account do a vote if need to..

saying tanks have the right to determine how a run should work is just ._. what if its a healer wanting no mobs excluded?? can only imagine the rage tanks throw at healers if they decide not to heal them... and yeah ive seen some very rude tanks abusing healers for no reason at all so that scenario wouldnt surprise me at all

without healers tanks are just cannon fodder so calling dps entitled is laughable since the OP attitude screams entitled aswell

My OP was about breaking a tie and dealing with someone making demands of me, refusing reasonable compromise, and believing his and his friends' personal rights instead of a jobs' inherent implied rights were superior to mine and my friend's.

The "dps plea" part was just a general thing for people like him to hopefully read.

All these pointless arguments wouldn't have happened if you didn't use the word "entitled" in your OP. You just needed to have said that if someone wants to request something, they should ask politely. That would have brought your point across without all these "entitlement" arguments.

Which is true for any case. If you want something, no matter whether you are tank, healer or dps, just ask politely.

It is in the nature of tanking that tanks get the final say in deciding the pace of the party. There is no entitlement in that but just what that role entails. If a healer or a dps wants to request to go faster or slower, there is also no entitlement in that. That's just personal preference. What matters is how you go about asking it. And I will say that most people seem to be lacking manners on the internet nowadays.

You're clearly missing the point, and not responding to my points.

SE gave me (tanks in general) the tools to do pulls the most effectively and to go first into mobs, and therefore the preference that we make the call in a tie. When he went ahead with the healer to try without me, they died horrible deaths.

And again, when treated like a human being or outnumbered, I give people what they want. When I'm a dps, I let the tank make the call. So I'm entitled eh?

Not reading the drama in this thread. Just adding my own story.

I was once in an AV where three of us were Lv.50, and the last guy wasn't even level synced.
That one guy was mad that we weren't killing everything and, in all seriousness, said that we were all there to get him experience. He then called -all- Lv.50's stupid when one of us three disagreed with him by saying we're only there because of Zodiac.

Setting the pace is completely different from deciding party actions. The role entails the speed of the pulls and ability to hold mobs, nothing more.

The word pace means to do something at a steady speed. You can certainly pull at a steady speed, but that has nothing to do with deciding to pull the side room because you're the boss and want mushrooms on your pizza when everyone else hates them. The "pace" can still be the same, side room or not.

Seems everyone wants the authority of a tank but none of the responsibility.

...so, a BRD does not have to sing, unless explicitly asked to, because that's not their job. (As per from another thread.) But a tank is entitled to decide how whole dungeons are run, if no fast consensus (and/or lack of politeness), because that is their job.
