Hello everyone,
I've been playing about with a new opener one I partially built from looking at improving SMN's initial burst and to help get into the flow of dmg faster and wanted to know opinions on it. All of this assumes two things you are using Ifrit and his skills are cast when they are up as they can be done during casts so it's not worth mentioning and two that you have time to cast shadow flare a few pixels in front of the boss outside his hit box and he can be moved into it as the pull happens.
So here goes:
Pre-Pull
Shadow Flare in front of the boss
Quelling Strikes
Rouse
Spur
Raging Strikes
Potion
On Pull
Tri-Disaster --> Ruin 2 --> Fester + Painflare --> Ruin 2 --> Energy Drain + Aetherflow --> Ruin 2 --> Dreadwyrm Stance + Enkindle --> Ruin 3 x 4 --> bio --> Fester + Swift Cast --> Ruin 3 --> Deathflare.
back into normal rotation hard casting shadow flare when it falls off near the end of this.
Going off the top of my head, I think this only puts you into DWT maybe one GCD faster than doing a 1F 1P 1E opener. If I'm correct, I don't really see a benefit in using Tri-disaster at the start rather than hard casting your 3 DoTs.So here goes:
Pre-Pull
Shadow Flare in front of the boss
Quelling Strikes
Rouse
Spur
Raging Strikes
Potion
On Pull
Tri-Disaster --> Ruin 2 --> Fester + Painflare --> Ruin 2 --> Energy Drain + Aetherflow --> Ruin 2 --> Dreadwyrm Stance + Enkindle --> Ruin 3 x 4 --> bio --> Fester + Swift Cast --> Ruin 3 --> Deathflare.
back into normal rotation hard casting shadow flare when it falls off near the end of this.
I use almost his opener in A5s, so Dots and oGcd get full potency. If you skip prey you don't even need to reapply DoTs once while he's big, if you use Garuda.
just for clarification on A5S since most people don't understand what SE implemented in heavenward to avoid mechanics messing with our dots. Like in rivahna, when a boss phases in and out when either getting a dmg buff up or down, it is reapply your dots so to take advantage of the increase or decrease of dmg. If you basing your rotation in order to "get your dots in before he gets big" it doesn't matter. When he becomes big your dots dmg will be reduced, the snapshot for dot dmg does not play a role just like on ravhna.
100% wrong, DoTs do full damage if applied when he's small. I've checked it on ACT.just for clarification on A5S since most people don't understand what SE implemented in heavenward to avoid mechanics messing with our dots. Hello, I've been a scholar main since 2.0 and recently things got a bit boring with my other jobs. Since I was a scholar I never really thought about summoner until yesterday. I read a bit of a guide and praticed Sleigh's opener in some dungeons and unsynced extreme primal, but summoner seems really hard. I have trouble with keeping aetherflow and aethertrail in sync during dungeons, but other players in my linkshells told me to just do the best I can because it's really hard to keep them in sync because there are too many variables, unlike in raids where you always have the same group with mostly the same pace. Also, I usually keep tri-disaster for reapplying my DoTs during DWT and use contagion on those, but I was wondering if the 10% was worth it or not. Any thoughts?

I wouldn't really sweat it in dungeons, since you're kinda at the mercy of how fast the tank moves between pulls. However, I would recommend trying to time your cool downs so that they're all available when you reach a boss. It's good practice for endgame raids/primals.
You need to look at the actual game dots numbers ticking - Ravahn as already stated and confirmed by FFlogs arthur that dot dmg is not being calculated correctly on REX because of this.

Went ahead and looked in-game too, same thing. Damage snapshots if applied when he's small and stays that way when he goes big on A5S. Again, can't speak for Ravana because I haven't done it in so long but for A5S, that isn't the case.
