my nerdy bard friend took the drg stats that were posted on this sub forum and scaled it for smn, basically 2.0->3.0 scale at 1080 INT we are nowhere near that atm:

wd = 7.853
det = 0.1207
crt = 0.1613
ss = 0.0515


i180 chest > i200 chest is a difference of 35.753 int
i190 weapon > i200 weapon is a difference of 29.455 int

edit: I will say that the end result of the discussion we had was if you are anywhere near 1000 int or more then go for the body, otherwise go with the weapon first

Did you guys actually calced the difference if you use 180 crafted chest + 200 weapon? Nothing against your maths and I'm at work right now so I can't do the maths on my own but if you meld 45 Crit on the 180 chest, this is 7.2585 Int. I did not count the massive Det gain and losing some Spell Speed. You also get rid of the Accuracy.

If you add the 45 Crit from melds + the 200 weapon, you are at 36.7135 Int. You have not count the Det yet and Spell Speed from that chest. THe lost of Spell Speed is not greater than the gain in Det. Your actual best path is iLevel 200 Weapon + 180 crafted chest if you are aiming for pure damage.

Can't do the math myself, but the main thing about chest is as of next week, you can buy a ring too, which if you're wearing the i180 + i190 rings currently like 99% of us, is an 11 INT gain + some sub-stats. It requires an oil equivalent though, but luckily since most people are going the weapon route it shouldn't be a problem to get the oil equivalent next week.

The routes can be something like these next week:

Week 3: i180 chest + i200 weapon
Week 4: i180 chest + i200 weapon + i210 ring
Week 5: i200 chest + i200 weapon + i210 ring

Or

Week 3: i200 chest + i210 ring + i190 weapon
Week 4: Same as above
Week 5: i200 chest + i210 ring + i200 weapon

i190 or pentamelded i180 chest might not change which route you'd want to go but it will make week 4 on the weapon route much stronger when you get ring. Otherwise, the i200 chest + ring week 3 route, I'm pretty sure will lead to a stronger week 3 (more VIT too!), but week 4 you'd probably be weaker since the weapon route gains strength and unless you buy a pointless 495 piece (weak for SMN by and large), you won't want to buy anything further. Week 5 every SMN will probably converge on chest or legs + ring + weapon without substitute, barring ACC issues.

Also, once we start clearing A3S, getting those sand equivalents is gonna favor the chest route. In fact, if everyone buys weapon week 3, sand equivalent is gonna rot in someone's inventory for a whole week or two! Strange how they made Esoterics chest/legs so great and then the other leftside so absolutely terrible for SMN. ACC SS head, belt, and boots, while this isn't ARR levels of bad it's still absolutely dreadful to gear towards.

I<m not on game, isn<t a ring 375 Eos? 375 + 990 = 1375 You'd be 15 Eso short for week 3. Can you confirm how much Eso is an accessory :x If you can get the 210 ring with chest then yeah that's definitely better.

Ring is 375, yep, which is why weapon route is only weapon week 3 (375 + 990 = 1365/1350 weekly cap = can't buy but weapon). Chest is 825 + 375 ring = 1200/1350, and you can actually get a left side piece if you'd wish (not that SMN would want to do that, too garbage, even if you had Gordian Ring already IMO).

In terms of INT

Weapon = 2 WD ( 8x2 = 16 ) + 9 = 25 INT

Chest + 210 ring is 22 + 11 = 33 INT

I am getting the oil since no one else needs it anyway so this was the better choice for me. Especially till week 4.

Haven't really been getting any loot though so accuracy might be an issue for A4S.

Unless I get loot next week, I will be sitting at 531 accuracy w/ food, 546 with Baked Pipira Pira. So that's something to keep in mind for those not so lucky with drops.
