    I don't understand what you're saying.

    If, for instance, when you Aetherflow for the first time in combat you're only down 300 mana or whatever...then 300 mana or so is waste from Aetherflow regen.

    So in this case, the summoning costs ~500 mana, so if you had summoned instead, you'd end up only 200 mana down, so that factors into whether its worth it or not.

    This isn't too hard to understand.

    Again I'm not disagreeing with your result (mostly because I'm fairly certain doing a normal rotation ends up down more than 300 or so mana per first aether) but your suggestion that mana for AF doesn't matter at all is odd.

Thus you are sacrificing raw damage. Even if you were to switch all the Ruin IIs with Ruin I in the opener, you're sacrificing AAs, and the MP saved is probably like 3 to 4 ruins so roughly 212 MP.

    My point is the MP you gain from AF isn't higher then the MP you've used up til this point thus just costing you MP and damage no matter how you execute it. We haven't even factored in the MP required for this swap yet, which is still at the least 320 mp if we converted to Ruin I's.

    Hello, i m a returning Summoner and in preparing for Heavensward i was looking at your rotation. I saw on the main post few different ones and i have few questions.

    Are this doable with macros, in game ones?

    Are this doable with 2.5ms wait on Razer Naga Epic mouse macro ? (is this forbidden?)

    Or mainly just keys, normal press?

    Thanks.

    ps: which rotation is best for SMN atm ? im confused with all those in 1st post

    Pre-Positioned Shadow Flare -> Raging Strikes -> X-Potion(INT) - > Bio II -> Miasma -> Bio I -> Fester -> Miasma II (If Garuda) / Ruin II (If Ifrit) -> Potent Poison Potion -> Contagion (If Garuda) / Swiftcast -> Shadowflare -> Rouse -> Ruin II -> Spur -> Ruin II -> Fester -> Ruin II -> Enkindle -> Ruin II ->....(continued)

    If Ifrit:
    .... Bio -> Miasma -> Ruin II -> Fester -> Aetherflow -> Bio II....

    If Garuda:
    .... Ruin II -> Ruin II -> Fester -> Ruin II -> Aetherflow....

    From that point on, it becomes a priority system. You Ruin I when you have nothing to put back up, and replace a Ruin I when you need to refresh a DoT.

    At this point, those are the best opens with the least drawbacks if it's possible you will go OOM in an encounter, which you likely will doing a maximum DPS rotation in current end-game fights. Primals not counted there.
    However, if mana is not an issue AND you can do a maximum DPS rotation all the time (so basically short encounters), then you can start with Garuda up till Contagion, hard cast the second ShadowFlare in the opener then Swiftcast Ifrit out and use Rouse Spur Enkindle combo with him in between Ruin IIs and the second Fester.

    As for macros, you can macro a few things like Bane + Aerial Slash pet skill but to be honest you shouldn't try to macro everything for two reasons.
    The first is the opening is extremely tight and you want to make sure you get a second Fester before Raging Strikes falls off. When you macro skills, you are unable to interrupt animations ahead of time as you can if you were to just press the skills thus it adds in an artificial delay.

    The second reason is because macros mess up alot as well and don't execute properly if you have to move sometimes. On top of the fact you will lose a massive amount of DPS using macros.
    Keys normal press is the way to go, although some skills you can probably put on the naga individually, like Bio II, Miasma, Bio I and Fester for example. Whatever you're comfortable with just try to avoid macros.

    Theres only 5 buttons in your primary rotation, it doesn't need to be macro'd.

    Also your dots have different durations, so a macro doesn't make sense.

    You can macro your cooldowns together (Spur + rouse + Enkindle, RS + Quelling).

    Not really much point in macroing anything else.

    The best rotation is "keep your dots up and then keep your pet alive and then cast ruin and then melee the boss and then use fester and then aetherflow".

    my dots are falling off quite often on raid bosses in 24 player content. Is this an issue only for me or the gamed design?

    Both?
    So basically there is a limit to how many DoTs you can have on a mob and a limit to how much you can actually see.

    The actual DoT limit is 60, while the visible limit of debuffs is 30.

    So if you can't actually see your debuffs, it may be you let it fall off passed 0 seconds and when you reused it, it may still be landing or it may not depending on how many DoTs are currently active. So after your initial DoTs, if you want to still keep them visible, you have to make sure to refresh the timers before they hit 0.
    Or you can change the option under Character Configuration to only show when your DoTs are active but this disables all buffs/debuffs you do not inflict including buffs like reflect damage that bosses use.

    Other than that, DoTs don't just fall off.

    Just a note even with "show only my dots" it still does not display if you are over the 30 dot display limit...YEP.

    What an awesome idea to have the same UI for both PS3 (more like...stupid...station...3) and PC.

    We're literally being held back by an outdated platform. This is the only reason.
