I don't like leveling secondary jobs to get cross-class skills. For Archer, does leveling to 28, give SMN "enhanced" Raging Strikes, or still "normal" RS?
Do you find, having or not having Quelling Strikes, a make-or-break point?

The Raging Strikes you get initially is the cross-class version, leveling Archer or Arcanist further does not enhance it for Arcanist.
Quelling Strikes is a niche skill in raiding/trials, you'd need a BRD in your party and a woefully underskilled/undergeared tank to rip hate even in your opener. In dungeons, it can be handy if your tank has less than stellar aggro, but a good tank does not require Quelling to be used.

what are yalls rs timings for a6s on a clean run? its a long enough fight to get 4 in, but i can only really find 3 places to use it effectively - very beginning of blaster, first wave of adds on swindler, and once during vortexer.

Blaster beginning > Swindler beginning if LBing the adds as IMO you should with LB2 > Once in Vortexer, either 2nd or 3rd DWT
The downtime of the timed Brawler phase really hurts the "should get 4 RS" thing realistically, unfortunately.

Threw together a simple BiS - opinions?

For a post-A8S BiS, it's pretty good. I got an INT equivalency value of 1700.443 after mathing out your set factoring in INT, det, crit, and spell speed weights, using an INT value of 1314 (Seeker of the Sun value in full 240 + 245 weapon). Stat weights used were the Garuda pet weights.Threw together a simple BiS - opinions?

For reference, the set that I made: http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/SZ4Z
Comparing to the set I made, the only real difference is in the choice of gloves and the use of an accuracy +12 materia. Using the same criteria that I listed above, my set comes out to an INT equivalency value of 1700.884. The gain mainly comes from less wasted accuracy, even though it has about 45 less crit. Mathematically I haven't been able to come up with a better set than this, but yours is the closest set to mine that I've seen, and better than any other set I tried to come up with.

I personally like DET as a stat as it's a linear scaling in damage....

Otherwise if you get overall more offensive stats, I don't see the problem in keeping higher accuracyConsidering almost every gear piece has ACC in 3.2 heh...

So I'm seeing a lot of back and forth and numbers that I don't entirely understand where they are originating. I never gave a ton of thought to gear as I'm not much of a raider and tome gear was pretty much the only path otherwise. But now with decent crafted gear and materia melds to tome and raid gear, I'm not entirely sure how I should be gearing moving forward. Looking to break into soft/casual raiding and want to at least be somewhat competitive. With that in mind:
- I know 3.0 saw a certain relevance brought to spell speed. Is this a stat worth melding? If so, what sort of cap should I be shooting for.
- Simple version; crit vs. det? Is this just a personal preference or is there a stand-out reason why I should go with one over the other?
- What food should I be looking at now as SMN?
(I apologize if this was covered, but I just didn't want to wade back through 135 pages of comments.)
crit > det > sps. ever since crit also made crit multiplier higher its become the best secondary for everyone. although, sps iv does give more effective stats than det iv materia does; 9 spell speed vs 6 det.
as for food, baked pipira pira still gives the most crit for its price.

Hello guys,
Which accaracy cap do I need as a summoner?
I read that the smn itself needs mage cap, while the pet needs rear cap.Accuracy: You must first and foremost gear for Accuracy. You as a SMN simply require a BLM’s accuracy while the Pet requires rear Accuracy. Thus gear up with whichever is higher. Food as of 3.0 DOES affect Pets.
but i can't find clear answers for rear cap. Is rear = flank or is it as high as mage cap or something between flank and mage?
I hope someone can help me, I just want to know i much acc is needed for my smn and whats the difference in numbers/percentage from rear to flank or mage cap![]()
