Auri and Ishgard, can we truly be allies?

One thing has been lingering on my mind since the new race Au\\\\'Ra was announced.

The Au\\\\'Ra are theoretically part Dravanian. With that, the first concern of mine is where does the race originate from. With essentially all of old Coerthas opening up for us, I would expect it to be either Ishgard city proper, or Dravania. Both of these bring up some major concerns.

Being from dravania, that would imply this race has been around amongst dragons, possibly a lower class amongst dragon kind. Dragons don\\\\'t need clothes, so this would explain their ratty garb, being the only ones in their society that needs it. The other option is ishgard proper. Have a whole host of issues if this is the case. Ishgardians HATE dragons, to the point they label even suspected sympathizers as heretics and want blood. And that is just for people who like dragons.

Imagine if you were actually part dragon! At worst, they would be lowest low class; at best, mud-in-the-dirt class among ishgardian society. This would definitely explain their starter clothes.
This of course is all regarding NPCs, and where they might be in the new expansion. Nevermind player characters. As a character who has become a friend and hero to their city, will Ishgard still revere me if I undergo a race change? Say I am just starting out. Would they so much as last me climb the observatory before skewering me on sight? At that point I am as much an outsider as I am draconic.

I am just really interested in how this new race will integrate themselves with the rest of Eorzea. Of course, if it turns out Au\\'Ra are not Dravanian, disregard everything I already said and mark me a fool.

Nothing so far has indicated that, and without that your complaints mostly fail.

Not complaints, more so speculation. I thought I read somewhere that "Au'Ra" was a dravanian word so there is that, but again, all theory-craft.

Maybe "complaint" was the wrong word. Anyway, yeah. We have basically no information about the Au Ra at this point. We know that they have draconian features, but that doesn't actually mean they have to be descended from dragons. I mean, I'm willing to assume with everyone else that they probably are, way back down the line, but that doesn't tell us which line of dragons they would even descend from. If from the Dravanians, they would have had to split before the Dragonsong War even started. If from the Meracydians, they would have had to split before the Allagans captured them (unless I'm misremembering and there are Meracydians alive now). That leaves I'd guess five full branches of dragons we know nothing about, who have until now not been involved in the war with Ishgard.

Draconic, but that doesn't make them Dravanian. We know there are dragons elsewhere on Hydaelyn.

Like the Merycidian Dragons were not Dravanian :3 So it's likely that the Au'Ra aren't directly related to the Dravanians, though if they are Dragon descendant then they would be related to Midgardsormr who seems to be the father of all the dragons :3

The Au'Ra come from the continent of Othard, same place where Doma is located. With any luck (and judging by the fact that Yugiri wasn't killed on sight in Dragonhead), the Ishgardians have directed their anger at the Dravanians alone and not all dragon-kind in general.

I think its more likely the Ishgardians just don't see the Au Ra as draconic as much as reptilian. Certianly, apart from some basic physical traits, the Au Ra haven't shown an connection to the Dravanians and have even acted in support of Ishgard. Ishgard seems to be of the mindset Dragon = bad.
