When FFXIV/SE loses subscriptions, doesn't maintain constant subscriptions and doesn't gain any more new subscriptions after free trials because of the RMT harrassment, then yes, it does effect them. The soul purpose behind making something for profit is to.... make a profit. If you can't keep the money rolling in, then there's no reason - or way - to support it.
If people are happy, they stay for the long haul. Hell, they grab people with positive reviews to try it out. The players may even throw more money at SE, because the trust and positive association is there.

Also, SE are not a group of teens being nagged by their parents. They shouldn't be rolling their eyes and ignoring an issue. We're paying customers, and if they want to keep their paying customers, they really should take some kind of measure - if not now, then in the future or quietly in the background.


Also - if you're bothered by the constant pleas by those effected hardest by the RMTs, then ignore the posts and

The difference? None. There are alternatives to /tells and there are alternatives to this forum. So if your answer to the RMT spam issue is "deal with it", the same solution holds true for the high number of RMT complaint threads.

I'm not 100% what you're saying but I think you're saying that you are going to stalk people who complain about the anti-rmt spam. If that's the case then you're going to be banned for harassment. And Square IS quite fast when dealing with harassment.

Unfortunately, this is only true about forum harassment, not RMT harassment. As others have stated, it's a shame forum spam is so easy to squash while the same does not hold true in-game.

All this stuff being said yeah.. rmt is annoying, just spent about a half an hour trying to write up a bot report the other day because 20-something thm were running around Thanalan genociding the area.. next day, still there. Why can't rmts just type easier names so reports are easier to write? /Thats/ harassment it takes forever

It becomes a self-perpetuating problem: RMTs post ads. Players get annoyed, go to their websites to complain, get keylogger, lose account. RMTs strip that account of everything valuable, extrapolate possible info about owner\\'s other accounts, and strip that as well. Then they make more bot accounts and the cycle continues. It\\'s like the zombie internet apocalypse.
It\\'s not unusual for someone who gets tricked into visiting these websites through one reason or another to end up losing thousands of dollars from a single click.

If you don\\'t even bother to buy and install anti-virus software on your device then you deserve to get your shit filled with viruses.

As for the rmt, deal with it. I\\'ve been playing games where it was way worse than on this one. Did I forget to mention Cerberus doesn\\'t have this so called problem lol.
