It's more for free marking. We post hastags and becomes trending what does free advertising. Why it's on Twitter.

Twitter isn't even bad. Facebook shoots advertisements at you like rainfall. Twitter is very minimal in ads. Furthermore it's media infrastructure is simple and not overbearing. I'm not a social person, I'll say like 10 words a day, but I prefer twitter to share my media/ideas/etc.
I hate twitter because in my eyes it's basically a social platform for famous people and their fans. Totally pointless.Twitter isn't even bad. Facebook shoots advertisements at you like rainfall. To be fair, Facebook started out as a college thing and has grown a hell of a lot bigger than that. Even if it was still what it was when it started out you'd probably want it for your college stuff. No, but I hate facebook as well. I only have it become for some freaking reasons colleges use it as an events calender now. Seriously social media is the worst, and this is coming from someone whose 22. No one gives a flying monkey poo about your selfies or your ability to microwave meals and take pretty pictures of them!
My other problem with it is that people are so socially awkward in real now and I point the blame at texting and social media.
Also lots of people were socially akward long before books came into existance, much less texting and social media. Just with the internet we can see the world a helluva lot more than we once could.
That rings of truth... I remember when I was in high school and Myspace was all the rage... Whatever did happen to Myspace? Think it became some music thing or another lolTo be fair, Facebook started out as a college thing and has grown a hell of a lot bigger than that. Myspace is all but dead now, ever since Facebook started taking off. I never was into it myself and only got FB for college, though I keep it now due to some friends. Otherwise I'd be off that too.
Marketing. Social media is the most powerful tool for marketing whether you like it or not, and by hosting a fan contest on a social media site it is essentially low-cost/free marketing for them. "Show off your Au Ra!" might look like a cute competition to us, but of course there is the business and marketing aspect of it for SE, with the whole idea of getting these images trending and circulating the web. It makes the people playing the game do the marketing for them. If the contest is hosted on the forum, it's not exactly being marketed to a new audience.
Why do people always act like no one was socially awkward before texting and social media? The vast majority of people who are socially awkward who use social media and texting would still be socially awkward 30 years ago. What these technologies allow is for those who are socially awkward to still have some form of social interaction which is a good thing. I hate when people act like these things are are horrible when they've done far more good than bad.
