Like others said. It's a "Legacy" server meaning it had an active player base since before 2.0 even came around. So when ARR launched it filled the server to over-capacity. Plus it being an un-official RP server helped attract even more players towards it.
The world and cities are always fyll of people going about their day. You never feel lonely like you do on some other servers.
Citys are always full of people role-playing and so are some areas like bronze lake. Also yeah we don't have as many bots as other servers since it's locked for character creation 99% of the time... but they spawn in waves the moment it opens to replace the banned ones since that's thier only chance to replenish their ranks. Kinda funny sometimes.
Population is amazing. Nothing better then shifting through 20+ pf groups.
To me, it's an amazing server, filled with amazing people.
We have great FC's that help people out, and dont' ask anything in return.
We have great people who help eachother and spend time together. I've been making -tons- of friends recently between my OoC and IC life.
We have the RP'ers, and you never are at a want for it. Though sometimes, the Tavern's can be a bit... niche? I notice some people who go there to basically broadcast their RP. Basically like the guys from the Family Guy skit where they go to Starbucks to "WRITE THEIR SCRIPT WHILE LOUDLY TALKING ABOUT IT." /rollseyes.
We have our elitists, and we have our casuals. I love everyone, and everyone I spend time with on teamspeak seems to enjoy my energy, which means to be that they're just as good-hearted as I think myself :3
<3 Balmung. Between Cactuar, Gilgamesh, and Balmung, you are where my heart will always be.
Why the server is popular..I don't know to be fairly honest. But I do love the crazy things I encounter while here. My best memory so far, doing a FATE in Thanalan where they dragged the boss into the bar and pretended it was a bar fight. Was so funny even the RPers inside were laughing.
