Don't need a numerical parser. Se uses internal tests to gauge max potential damage and could have a color indicator on your output compared to thier dps measurement.

...which is still going to communicate whether or not a player is putting out subpar numbers compared to the expectation while leaving it unhelpfully vague. In some ways this could be far worse than providing hard numbers. If you're going to bother to allow players to gauge their performance, don't make them wonder exactly where they're at.
XI: Zeroblade, Titan Server
I kinda know my speed limit. The little light is green, it means faster right?
Either give the parses or don't. We don't need a half-assed attempt to placate those who are wrong and don't want to be told they are wrong because they don't want to admit it.
I don't understand people that hate parsers. This is why most DPS in the game are terrible. If a DPS and a Tank are relatively equal in gear level, and the tank is doing much higher damage, that's a freaking wake up call. The best DPS on each server are the ones that either use parsers, or players like myself on PS4 ask people to parse me on a dummy, or are running one during a raid. This number is compared with others, this creates motivation to improve, to push yourself, to extend your limits, and in some cases friendly competition with friends or other players. This might sound...elitist, or condescending, but if you hate parsers, or don't want people using them, then don't hate the players that are better than you. I've seen SCHOLARS, and Warriors, and under geared players do more damage than other damage dealers in this game. It's sad.
Oh, and no, aggro meter doesn't tell you who is better, or "color indicators" or none of this other garbage people say.
There's more to parsing than just DPS. We did our first real venture into T13 this thursday and kept wondering why is our WHM randomly dying on Megaflare stacks. Checking out our trusty parser, it turned out she was hit twice by Megaflare for 5k+. We adjusted by telling everyone to spread out a little more and never had the issue again.
That number you're seeing is the combined damage of every DoT from every player. Or are you telling me that your three DoT ticks for a combined potency of 110 (135 with Shadow Flare) is hitting for almost the same numbers as my 306 potency Fire?
Yoshi-P is doing his best and is patching Endwalker. Please wait warmly until it is ready.
I like the idea of parsers as a tool for information and self-improvement. I could look at the data, see where I fall short, and correct that behavior. Or, I could, if I weren't playing on PS4.
I dislike the idea of parsers because people are terrible in general and use them as a means for unwarranted hostility rather than improvement. These are the same intolerable people who make DF groups disband because they lack social skills and tact. Parsers just give them ammo unfortunately.
Parsers exist anyway. They'll keep on existing. Far better to just give everyone at bare minimum an in-game tool that gives you only your DPS and your group's average DPS. At bare minimum.
People will be assholes, parsers or not. The world isn't instantly a better place because we do not have parsers. We're basically not being given a feature because people will feel other "bad" people will call them out, which they already do, so the whole idea is redundant.I dislike the idea of parsers because people are terrible in general and use them as a means for unwarranted hostility rather than improvement. This is like saying there are bad people outside, better stay inside. The argument is old and doesn't hold ground anymore.
There are both many terrible people and many terrible players in this game.
More detailed analysis and constructive suggestions for improvement that stem from wider use of parsing could help with the latter.
Very little that we do in-game can help with the former, and such people don't need excuses like parsed data in order to be toxic.
There should be parsers ingame. The good far outweighs the bad. If you are the type of person that is against parsers all that tells me is you are probably the same person that really needs one. Everyone should strive to improve no one should be satisfied with mediocrity or worse. And as someone said before earlier. People are so quick to call out tanks and healers if they are bad but heaven forbid we call out dps? How is that fair? Especially if the people trying to call out tanks and healers are bad themselves i'd like to know that info.
