I would wager a vast majority of top tier players (those that clear Coil before it is nerfed/unlocked, or have the raw talent/skill to do so) are not publicly hostile about parsing in their parties. They might chuckle with their co-raiders and friends about how good or bad this or that guy's DPS is relative to his gear, but it's very rare that they will join a random party and ostracize that person just because they parse.

The ones to be concerned about are low to mid tier players who lack any kind of logical reasoning and just treat a parse result as if it is law. These are the ones you typically see chewing people out for being "the worst" DPS (by an extremely small margin and/or without considering other factors), or being chewed out for it and acting as if all parsing is the devil.

These people are the reason we can't have nice things. A parse result is one of many tools one can use to analyze a fight and improve oneself. We have a huge double-standard in our playerbase where tanks and healers are held to a high standard but it's ok for DPS to be mediocre because "oh you can't parse you can't tell me I suck". There are plenty of easy ways to tell if someone is an awful DPS just by watching what they do (and to a much lesser extent, the enmity meter). Though that's hardly a problem unique to DPS in this game, as telling anyone they suck (in so many words) is rarely met with a receptive attitude.

Being elitist isn't a bad thing. It's called "having standards."
