Thread: Lore info within patch 2.5 files

In the first post, it's mentioned in as of yet unused loading screen tips within the game's files:

It is believed the Miqo'te first came to Eorzea during the Fifth Umbral Era, fleeing their ravaged homeland on the southern continent of Meracydia.

It is "believed" doesn't mean it's necessarily true, though I see no reason to doubt it.

My "Miqo'te were genetically engineered" theory is mostly an obscure joke about a certain famous visual novel featuring precursor-engineered cat-people (with a crazy male:female ratio, but leaning male) and inherited destinies involving hope and renewal. If the Miqo'te actually do end up being one giant Lamento ~beyond the void~ joke though I'll be able to say I called it, but I may facepalm first.

Based on the file:

The Keepers of the Moon have a matriarchal society, with surnames passed down from mother to child—some since the First Astral Era

So miqo'te existed a very long time. Lol, maybe they were one of the 1st "human" race?

Additionally, prior to this data, all we knew was that miqo'te migrated from a southern continent into Eorzea and it was speculated that it was Meracydia due to it being the only southern continent we knew at the time. At least now this info pretty much confirms it.

And since their existence dates back to the First Astral Era, the Allagans couldn't have created them, because their rise and fall was in the Third Astral Era.

Couldn't have created the Keepers, at least. The Seekers are beastier, like they've had a bit more animal mixed in. Hmmmm...
