    The client has crashed

So since today this error keeps showing up whenever my gf logs in to the game. Takes a few seconds to pop up, then crashes instantly. No further reason is given but that the error is unkown.
I am on the same router so its not an internet issue. I also hardly doubt it has anything to do with her notebook in any way.
We've set her clients system konfiguration back to standards, solved it for about 30mins, then trouble started again.

That usually gets triggered because the launcher is unable to load certain elements from the frontier website. We're seeing a lot of cases where certain SSL options are no longer enabled in the Internet Options because a fairly recent Windows UIpdate reset some of them. Run inetcpl.cpl from your Search/Run box to open the options snap-in, click the Advanced tab, then scroll to the bottom of the list. Make sure all the SSL and TLS options are enabled.

It has also been triggered by adblockers as well, in which case you could try adding an exception for the frontier.ffxiv.com site (Trusted/Allowed Sites/Connections sections and such, wording varies depending on the program).

Hard to provide any suggestions without knowing more about the hardware/software involved. Could be bad driver, failing hardware, false-positive on security, Windows Update knackering something up.... there's a long list of possible reasons. May want to look through the event viewer (eventvwr.msc from search/run box) to see if you can spot anything odd going on around the time the crashes started happening, or around the point it crashes.

This is a user-to-user forum...fairly casual participation for the most part. The only paid SE staff here are moderators that basically make sure we play nice in the sandbox. Not uncommon for some posts to go unanswered for a day or longer at times.

I am sorry for my unfriendly way of writing the original posts, but I am quite annoyed not just because I didnt get any help here, but also because I've posted this problem in my native language forum for quite a few days now and there is absolutely zero help given. Contacted the support of Square Enix which I have provided tons of information and date but are being useless so far and here it is not working better either. The SE support has told me to set the options of ffxiv in my nvidia optimus konfiguration to optimized, although you can read in my providen data that it already is. They have also told me to make an administrator in windows, although you can read in my providen data that I already am the administrator. Additionaly, noone of these makes sense since the game has been working for the first month just fine. As already said, nothing has changed the last few days on my computer and there are no updates to anything either so I hardly doubt the problem has to do with my computer but with whatever client configuration which might has got some changes.

Sorry, don't speak your language (is that German?). Some things may have gotten sort of "lost in translation". When they mentioned running as Administrator, they don't mean running from an administrator level user. They mean to launch the game with elevated privileges (right-click and run as Administrator or set it to run as Administrator in the shortcut properties).

Since Windows Vista was released, there was a change in the security structure. The Administrator is disabled by default....sort of. This was an effort to restrict specific malicious activity that exploits some potential issues with winlogin. You have to enable the login with specific commands from an elevated shell before you actually login as a full Administrator via the actual Administrator login. So you have to manually invoke it or otherwise configure things to use it's special priveleges.

Just wanted to make sure that point was clarified, as it seems there may be a misunderstanding. Would like to discuss more, but at work now and on my phone. Will try to add more later if I get time.

As to system changes...some things update through background processes and you may have gotten an update that is causing problems. This is not isolated to Windows Update either (which has caused problems in the past...note my earlier post about the launcher error -2146697208). Security software is a frequent offender in this department. Not uncommon for antivirus to start giving false positives after it updates it's definitions or a program update. Also not uncommon for firewalls or antivirus to block a program when it senses a change in a file (update changes the launcher or boot .exe to a different version number or other changes). May need to update or add exceptions to your security for the game's executable files.

We have also seen memory management issues with certain families of video cards. There have been tickets and forum threads started with the vendors but many are still having issues. We are hoping we will see improvement with the new directx 11 client. For now though, the players have been enabling the options for lower detail on distant objects and caching LOD stream (forget the exact wording). The concept is to reduce the memory usage to mitigate the memory leaks. Not a perfect fix, but it has at least allowed players to play for hours before a crash instead of minutes. Because it is dependant on memory usage the mileage may vary depending on how many objects are loaded on screen as well as the size of the textures used. So you may improve stability by reducing render limits for how many objects to display or otherwise reducing quality and features like shadows, glare, physics, HDR, etc.

Thank you again for at least providing some information. So far nothing has been missunderstood from my side, I did get the right-click administrator thing aswell as everything else. Yesterday I found out that a windows 8.1 update was not installed correctly so I fixed this and thought this would be the problem, it was not.

I am not mad that the solutions provided by the square enix support center so far are not working. I am mad that the very little help they have given was quite useless and feeling far, far away from the obviously real problem and that this thing is going on quite a few days now, the abonnement time keeps running, noone does actualy care about this, and I have got 1 answer from the support within 4 days which is kinda sad.

I have been enjoying this game a lot and I still have 5 days to play, and if the problem has not been solved until then, although I am literaly the whole day looking for a solution, I'll be quiting.

As for your answers I already have everything set to minimum, not that my pc wouldnt do better but because I already thought it could be a graphical problem. Within the last days I have not been able to guarantee that it might be a graphical problem since anything that has to do with my graphic card is just right and usualy supports maximal settings. What I am guessing could be is a ingame problem: the crashes started the day I started questing at the middle highlands of coerthas and what seemed to be crashes at a certain point has changed; from times to times it is impossible to do anything, as already said it takes about 5-10s until the crash appears after logging in. However, sometimes I can play up to half or even one hour until the crash appears. It would be very strange if it had to do with the map tho, because I have been able to level quite effectively here and the crashes are not related to a specific spot, opening certain windows or doing certain skills.

I have a similar issue. I get either a crash or an infinite loading screen. Can she log into different characters on the same account? or create new characters? I can do both, my error seems tied to the zone i was entering in a specific character, I believe it has to do with an instance loading or something. I can play the game fine with other characters etc. But every time (or so it seems) i try to load an instance I end up bricking the character. Its a mega bummer i was really enjoying the game.
