That's the replies I want to hear. I want this topic to be debated! I just want to say one short thing over, however. Let's go ahead and take away the EXP Chain bonus and just stick with the groups. Effiency is the key to more xp, not the chain. EXP Chain bonus only sweetens the deal.

Let's keep that same concept of a party that can kill in 30 seconds relative to the party that can kill in 40 seconds. One way or the other, Party A is still going to yield a higher EXP per hour than Party B. The only reason why I wish for this implementation of this trusty mechanic to be incorporated back into the society of Final Fantasy MMO is that it acts as a reward to me for not only defeating a very hard enemy, but also doing it on a fast pace. Would you rather of had them take it away completely? Either way you look at it, it would take a lot longer to level up the job. No matter what.

    Some people call it elitism,

    I call it fun.

Where is the fun in a game if you don't challenge yourself to be the best that you can be?

Now most of us remember the good old days where there were some things we took for granted. But now that those things are void, do we really want to keep it that way? This is just one more suggestion from a loyal fan of this great franchise.

Remember when you first obtained a party in Valkurm Dunes? Everything was so new, and fresh. No longer were you running around fending off your lands from simple tasks of Quadav, Orc, or Yagudo Regiments all by your lonesome. You were part of a group. The sole task to better yourself by vanquishing a foe no one man could take down by himself. You might even say it was rather enjoyable. One thing you might not have taken into consideration was the EXP Chain!

This game is new, and refreshing at times. Sadly, however, being in a party is still a a rare phenomenon for me. So I think it's safe to assume that if we just implement the EXP Chain bonus back into the game, it would go a long way into helping us to redefine what a party once was, and how we could see more instances where people get together again to make the game more fun again. It's always better to play with others than to sit alone by yourself.

Now I'm glad you read this post, and I really hope you like it and respond in good tastes about it. This seems to me like an innocent suggestion that everyone can benefit from. I would really love to see a bonus for vaporizing monsters in a rapid succession once more. Thank you.
I too miss EXP chains, and skill chains and magic bursts. While I think SE should still allow players who have limited play time or just prefer to solo to do so with moderate results, I think that party play should be encouraged with slightly higher rewards than solo play.

All SE would need to do is increase the HP and EXP gained from certain groups of mobs, and have them spawn in an area where they could be camped. I really miss camping, because I am not a fan of having a party that must constantly run around as a group to find the next mob to kill.

Exactly, Grit. This game, and that of the previous, was to instill a sense of enjoyment. I found it rather rewarding that I challenged myself. Not only about earning experience points towards levels and merits, but to also gather up the best gear I could to give an essence of perfection to the job. I strived hard to turn my Samurai, Black Mage, and Monk into one of the best job models that I possibly could.

To me, there was no difference between an average player to a great player. If I did more damage over time, so what? Everyone is still the same, the only difference is play time. The only thing I can say about "Elitist" is a title over-zealous people gave themselves. I just want us all to enjoy the game.

OP, I also enjoyed EXP chains greatly!

I think you are on to something Timotheus. It's a matter of implementation and understanding the effects of the math involved. A slight tweak to the formula could be all that is needed.

However, elitism is a staple of MMOs and will never be eliminated entirely.

You're on the right course. I want EXP Chain bonus back into the game, but just a quick hack, slash, and paste onto FFXIV would just instill a sense of stale water in this new resevoir. I'm 100% for a little tweaking to old mechanics such as this as long as it isn't just the same as it's predecessor. I'm sure if they do implement this feature back, though, they will reinvent it rather than hack and slash it back.

Smashington I cannot disaggre with you that Elitism, or rather l33t, people won't act differently at the turn of the tide. That's just a hump in the back of the camel. It's not the companies fault, just bigotry on a virtual level. Good posts, everyone. Thank you.

Haha, this just made me wonder who in the hell invented these terms?
