Ideas and Suggestions for Practise Mode

So Yoshi-P announced that the Dev team would like to add a practice mode to help people learn their classes and/or raid bosses, coming in 3.X. This thread is a repository of ideas that could be used in it, in case they are not already. It's not exhaustive, and can be added to at a later date.

Individual DPS Mode:

- have both Stationary and Moving targets
- Classify the DPS being performed so the player knows how well they do

Individual Healer Mode:

- Show Over-healing data

Individual Tank Mode:

- Test enmity control with adds

Team Raid Mode:

- Show enrage timer
- Allow option for Echo/Infinite HP, but show statistics of damage taken below 1 HP
- Allow party to skip to specified phase (maybe use check points)

They already have a practice mode. It's called doing the content.

I think this is why we have a normal Alex and a savage Alex. A way of learning the new coil. I believe this is our practice mode

I really don't get the point of it, just reset cooldowns on a wipe and be done with it.
I know some people want to be able to practice just phase 4 at times, but that's not how raids works, you need to be able to deal with everything and have a smooth phase transition and not to mention starting at phase 4 with all your cooldowns and full HP/MP is just not helping, you need to be able to get to that phase comfortably without serious mana or DPS issues.

The only way that WOW's proving grounds "failed" was in setting a pathetically low barrier to entry for endgame content, which people still managed to crawl under and complain it was too hard.

Unfortunately, barring people from content on the grounds of being irredeemably terrible at their role seems to be counter to the design ethos in this game.

Imo if you will allow people to practice any part they want, the content will end in like a week.....

Yeah, no. Everyone insists people should have content on farm within a few days of release. A practice mode, IMO, should be a version with NPCs they can use to practice their role so they're not spending literally all day in a PF shouting in Mor Dhona to get maybe half a party.

Playing with NPCs won't help you. Real players aren't scripted. If you don't know your job by the time you hit endgame raiding.... no amount of practice runs will help you. Raiding is all about working as a team and being able to react to different situations. The best practice is to run fight over and over until you can deal with it in any situation, not running the exact same scripted situations with a bunch of NPCs.

I am also tiered of the "no one will take me in if I have no experience" crap. When content is released, no one has experience. Form a group, get experience, learn. You are the only one holding yourself back, stop blaming others.
