Just note that that preview will not be the ONLY armor set of the expansion. If you're lucky it won't be the strongest/BiS set either.

I will have to disagree with you because personally I think that weapon looks super cool.
I also disagree with what you said about the Evenstar set. The typical/archtypical "mage hat" that everyone wears is just too out of style for me. I thought the new age magician look was actually pretty cool.

I snapshotted someone I ran across wearing the Evenstar hat who I thought looked nice. It's a Lalafell, but it's a male all the same:


I'm not really into Lalafells but I think this looks like a very respectable and dignified gentleman.

As long as the new mage gear has a backside idc. I am so tired of all the mage gear being butt-less. I mean I am a mage studying the arts of aetheric manipulation, not someone going to a fetish ball.

With the exception of the thigh-high boots and hat (which I'll glamour) I m actually pleased with the new BLM since it's not a robe.

I'd rather they add more short robes/bliauds then yet another robe.

Edit: Maybe the males will have slightly different look?

The Evenstar Coat is not exactly the same for males and females. There's no reason to assume the previewed set will look exactly like that on males.

If SE have learned something from all the DRG AF complains then the gear will be the same for male and female.
Also, except for the hat maybe, the BLM AF2 is already very unisex.

I can fully understand the new af gear, we are going to Ishgard after all so they make alot of sense actually

Blm - inquisition soldier mage
Whm - priest/sister of the Ishgard clergy
Pld - church knight in truth rather than just in name
Summoner makes me wonder if summoners are accepted in Ishgard more, that is an impressive horn and the gear is almost holy looking.. it is curiosity inducing

I really love the Evenstar set, my male Elezen looks dashing in it, boots and hat included. I really dislike the horrible robes and wizard hats in this game, some even make you look like some hobo living in the streets. FF XIV has the worst mage sets I've seen so far.
