How about take a different approach for the whole "gear defines a a job." For the purpose of this particular game mode. When you queue to the random job dungeon when inside, the equipment slots, while empty, would have stats of minimal equipment piece the game has for your job level at the moment. So say you get randomed to use your level 27 thaumaturge, if you empty your gearslots, each of them will offer stats that represent normal white quality armor that level thaumaturge can wear. (Or for those harder content, youd get default values of exactly the gear requirement level gear) You can then equip better gear if you have any on you, but even if not, you have something passable, for the run.
