Relic in 3.0

Hi, so after Nico Nico Live Event Yoshida shared information about relics :
1 The new classes (Dark Knight, Machinist and Astrologian) will not have Relic weapons, but will have weapons from primals
2 For people who already have zodiac relic weapons - special content is coming!
3 New relic weapons will be added with new raid for 24ppl in 3.1 Patch!

Not really new information there.

Not doing zodiac weapons for the new jobs wasn't confirmed until now but it was pretty obvious. I am glad they're giving them primal weapons though. I'm picturing the AST Garuda one as a big spinning ball of feathers.

I wish they'd tell us more.. im working on all 10 of them right now... should I stop and have a VERY easy time in 3.0 or keep going?

My guess is that in 3.1 we could still come back and start these 2.0 relics from scratch and progress through to Zeta, then do the "special content". It's most likely going to be a flag-based system where having any one zeta gives access to that content, and you get to select which Zeta you want to use to start that content, like how we would pick which Zenith we want to turn into Atma.

Well, all guesses anyway.

Are your zodiac weapons somehow nonfunctional right now? Because that would be a bug.

I don't think I wasted any time or gil.
I mean. If I started one right now, then yes possibly, because I know I won't be able to finish another one before HW comes out. But my bow? I've had it for a month and I will still have it until HW comes out; having the best weapon in the game for that long isn't too bad.

So no I don't think it's a waste. (I also think the Yoichi Bow Zeta is gorgeous but apparently I'm alone with this though so whatever)

The reason of doing the current relic weapon is that it can be upgraded again and again as things progress.

I understand if the earlier steps getting nerfed and making it easier to obtain... but for the whole process to be cast aside for a relic in 3.0 is just a bit disappointing.

Far worse would be three expansions from now when the 2.x relic would be mathematically best in slot for certain classes for some reason.

It's perfectly fine for the relic-type weapons to be scope-limited.

You have your trophies. You'll build a new one in 3.1 (perhaps several). And you get a leg up for having zeta weapons now.
