And there's also one possibility: that they are indeed the new relics, but we aren't getting them in 3.0 anyway. They just exist in the benchmark for us to drool over. ;-)
That is more logic. and I totally open to the posibility that might be that what will happen
But im curious, why showing on the 2 videos, weapons that arent going to release until 3.1? Its like the Curtana, Thyrus, Bravura, etc instead of being realised on 2.0, would it be on 2.1

I guess we can only wait and see what happens.

Don't forget they introduced Mythic weapons in ToA and were for most, on parwith relic weapons. Then they made Emp weapons with abyssea that went to I level 99 and outclassed relics and mythic. Leaving aegis and the bow the most reliable relics to have at 75. Eventually adding Magian quests to grind them up to 99 and laiter Adoulins smith npc in Jueno. But those were different combat mechanics for a different game.

In terms of lore, Zodiac seems to be a foreign mythos brought and reclaimed in Eorzea using the rebuilt Relics as a base form. That said it would make sense if other regions and continents had their own legendary artifacts. Just look at that Great Katana Gilgamesh has. It had to come from somewhere. Ultimately I'm going to do a bunch of relics only in the off chance they pull a Magian Trial or Adoulin upgrade at some point.

I'm pleased that they gonna be doing something about the current zodiacs (having 3 zodiacs) this actually takes a big weight out of my shoulders. I would of been really annoyed if they decided to just dump the old relics completely. Can't wait to see what's next!

Mythics were pretty bad actually until after the merit WS updates where they became pretty awesome. (Koga+shoha,Ryu+stardiver,Conq+Upheaval etc)

Relics ruled the 75 cap. Emps ruled the 90 cap. Mythics took over after that, especially when Mythics could spam emp WSs. There were a few exceptions, like Gun/Bow,Horn,both shields etc.

you guys all make valid points. For players who started late (like myself 3-4 months in) I feel the relic quest is a waste of time (even though Im trying to get my MNK relic). especially when getting your crafting classes up and ready (and other classes relevant to you) to 50, so that when 3.0 hits, we can bring them up to 60. Im constantly arguing with myself on what time to spend where: get my poetics, level up needed classes, clear Coils....all for 3.0.

The best things you can do to prepare for HW right now (for someone who hasn't been playing this entire time) is to level to 50 any class you intend to bring to 60 right away, level up as many crafts as you can to 50 for cross-class skills (don't worry about master crafting), and horde gil like it's going out of style.

Poetics are only relevant for current content and giving you an edge in leveling up in HW. Nice to have, but you can just collect them incidentally (do an expert a day and you'll cap over a week).

Coils are irrelevant. You don't need a T13 clear to start Alexander raiding. That being said, finding a static for 3.0 content NOW is probably a good idea.

I recommend stockpiling gil, grand company seals, and ventures for the expansion. Of all the currencies in the game, these three are the most likely to remain important going forward.

Until they announce that to upgrade it requires the corresponding Zeta, or a rare drop from the new 3.1 Dynamis zone and a pile of TV materia.
