I never understood the thought process behind buying clears. Do you really value your character so little that you'll suicide and let 7 people carry you the whole way? Like what's even the point of the clear if you didn't earn it?
Not all purchased content requires a suicide, but there are plenty of people that just don't care about that kind of thing. It's not as if you can look at someone's Lodestone and see that they purchased their clear rather than getting it themselves. As far as reasons why, there's lots. Some want to see the cutscenes for the lore, or they want to get the exploration achievement because they're completionists. Some people actually already know the content but don't want to go through the rigamarole of putting together a party of their own; let's face it, even farm parties don't guarantee farming. Some people are either new or returning to the game and want to catch up on things; this was especially prevalent in the last couple of months before Heavensward. People were coming back and wanting to experience FCoB, but had left when T5 was still an enormous roadblock. Some people genuinely don't care about or aren't good at the raid content, but they want the gear anyway for whatever reason.

There's tons of reasons why people buy clears for content. I don't understand why people are so upset about how strangers spend their gil. It doesn't contribute to RMT any more than expensive glamours or housing does.
