If people wouldn't buy them it wouldn't be a problem.

I never understood the thought process behind buying clears. Do you really value your character so little that you'll suicide and let 7 people carry you the whole way? Like what's even the point of the clear if you didn't earn it?

Obsolete content? Usually bought because it gates current content. Current content? Bought so you can afk in Idyllshire wearing the fancy "Kool Kidz" gear and think that people will see you and know you're special.

Sell groups pop up in the social void left from the game's focus on solo play. People were not encouraged to play with one another from the start. Instead, they were encouraged to play by themselves in an interactive lobby where some other person may just happen to be in the same room with them. Since all the challenge is in the group content, people can't pass the boss fights due to spending all their time doing solo stuff. They might as well have redesigned FFXIV into a single player game with optional multiplayer. They could have literally achieved the same effect as FFXIV:ARR with no sub fee.

I've always seen buying runs similar to paying for prostitution: only losers pay for it.

I can understand wanting to buy a clear for content that awards a mount or something... I don't agree with it but I understand it. My philosophy is that something doesn't even feel good if you didn't earn it. I did Titan Ex with my guild for the first time ever and I sucked and ended up eating rocks. The pony dropped and we all rolled but I remember feeling almost relieved when I rolled crap for it because I didn't feel like I'd earned it given my performance.

On Gilgamesh there were a few groups selling clears for Alex 4 early on (for the guaranteed jewelry and title) and I found it unfortunate. I had to pour blood and tears into that fight the first day it was out (the server's heavy hitters having cleared it that morning) but in the end I got much more out of it than someone who bought a clear. I understood the fight! In the end I understood and remembered every beat. I was one of the first "casuals" on Gilg to know A4 like the back of my hand. And that's the real lesson in all of this isn't it?

If you bought a clear you just bought a clear. If you earned it you have gained knowledge and experience you can pass on to others. IDK if clear buying is hurting endgame because I don't know how widespread it is but NOT buying clears and being willing to help others can only contribute to the pool of knowledgeable players.

I dont mind people paying for clears but welcome to modern gaming where people rather have others do it for them then do it themselves.

Socialising and getting friends/fc to help out is the hardest endgame ever for some people

    It hurts the game, definetly.

Crafting has always been limited to "not make/sell high end gear" because it would let players to "buy their way" into the high end content. SE can control what we can craft, but doesn`t bat an eye when parties sell content, and even drops, making this limitation of crafting completely pointless, hurting crafting and hurting one of the "principles" of the game, the one of "no one should buy their best gear and clears".

SE needs to work on this, straight ban this activities and make em reportable. No diferent from RMT if you ask me. In fact, encourages it.

Yes and no to be honest RMT would be stupid not to get a piece of the pie so to speak and no not saying legit people who practice this are rmt's just saying actual rmt's would be stupid not to.

Yes they are a problem... Ive been trying to get a learning party for the last 2 weeks for Rav ex. I see a lot of clear parties but they don't want anyone new o.O? The content is only a month or so old and it's a pain to get a learning party together. But I see at least 1 to 2 selling groups at any given time. I don't know what is it up with this generation of mmo players but it seems like to many players just want everything handed to them w/out ever trying to learn the mechanics of a fight. It's sad but true.

Were numbers invented or discovered? How many Moogles does it take to make Kuponut rum? Answer: zero... They will give you a quest to make it.

You must be great at parties.

No seriously, why does it matter what others do with their gil? one way or another they will get a clear and it willl NOT affect you regardless.

If you wanna do it legit and get a bunch of people or friends togheter then thats fine, if others dont wanna do that and instead spend a few million gil to be able to tag along for a boss fight then let them.

And to those saying this promotes rmt, if so then everything that costs alot of gil be it housing or hard to get glamour would be equally bad and should be removed aswell.
