Actually sellgroups seem to run better than ever.

Actually RMT spam increases rapidly.

I'm quite shure, the growing offers are becaus of growing demands. As there is actually nothing really interesting to do with gil beside kill buying, I would say both are very close together.

The time till the expansion gets smaller and smaller. It not seems the content will get easier than now. People hurry to finish content.

I get what you're saying. The issue is, people treat this like its the only thing in the game. The simple fact is, you could just as easily blame crafters.

"Buying levekits makes the game pay2win for crafting!" 500k/levekit
"Crafters charge too much for armor so people feel like they have to buy Gil to afford vanity!" 800k/i110 HQ
"High end materia / spirit bonding makes people buy gil!" 300-500k/materia IV...

Blaming run sellers for providing a service, to me, is silly. And any of those three, you could turn around and say they "ruin the markets" (though Marybeth not the community...)

Y'know, just a thought from today... I opened up the Party Finder fairly often. Also spent most of my day in Mor Dhona. And now, at the end of the day, I don't think I can differentiate between RMTs and sell groups.

RMTs send friend requests now, for the most part (though just today I actually received a /tell from one, with lots of hearts, it was almost nice), but I do remember when they were shouting. And then sending /tells one after the other.

Sell groups shout periodically, several of them, just like RMTs: the same text always, from each group, obviously on a macro. And in addition, PF is full of them: all I see is "pony farm", "selling /whatever/", "pony farm", "looking for T/whichever/", "selling /whatever/", "pony farm", "selling /whatever/", "looking for T/whichever/"...

Are they any different? Well, their methods are, somewhat, since one is illegal and the other isn't. But other than that... no. Not really. It's all advertising. It's spam. It's clutter. It's annoying. Anywhere else on the internet, you use tools to clear them, to get rid of them. Here? They roam free.

I'm still not saying they're the biggest issue actually hurting the community (not even only endgame, either). But they sure as hell don't help create a pleasant atmosphere: I'm feeling like I was in a mall all day. Or browsing the worse parts of the internet in some obscure, old browser.

Well... if someone doesn't craft and isn't really seen in spiritbond groups, earning millions of gil to be able to buy a run seems unrealistic. This is where the RMT argument comes into play. Plus it takes awhile of serious dedication to earn say... 10 million gil just to buy the clear which could be used in party finder removing under performing players until you get your clear and possibly friends listing the good players so you can add to a party and farm it later.

So I personally do not see the benefit in run buying unless you are buying RMT or the only thing you've done since game release was craft and have no raid skills but still want to clear for story or loot (You gotta be loaded with cash and nothing to spend it on if you craft THAT much).

Now I'm not suggesting correlation = causation here but it logically does not add up to me. Perhaps someone has a logical explanation to this.

I'm against buying runs, not because of the gil demand it generates, but because it allows people to pay-to-win. I believe the end-game content should be earned and only completed by those who actually had the skills and effort required. The more people who achieve a certain benchmark, but don't deserve it, the less it means to achieve it for everyone. People don't need to complete 100% of content if they don't have the required skill and/or effort.

i.e. Completing T13 makes you a winner in this game, please, refocus your goals in this game.. Raid completion is a joke, nobody takes you seriously just because you killed a big bad dragon..

The sense of achievement is individual; it's not about people being either 'winners or losers' of the game. The fact is, though that end-game raids are supposed to be a coordinated effort and challenge. Not everyone has the personal and/or social skills and the effort to clear them. Buying runs kinda defeats the purpose no?

That indifferent attitude is so wrong. If RMT is okay, run selling is okay, and raids apparently 'mean nothing', then what's the point of anything? Since nothing apparently matters and everything is a joke.

Some people may find more worth in crafting and/or simply the social aspects of the game, but the difference is those are something everybody can do. Everyone justifying run-selling is either lazy, indifferent or doesn't see the bigger picture.

Funny thing is people barking against raids are often the ones who haven't even touched the content at all. Raids were designed to be a challenge for the group to immerse yourself on, but apparently some people just had to find a way to buy their way out of anything they can't handle themselves. It's like real world where some people need their handicaps.
