Do you think sell groups are hurting end game community?

Me and my friends agree, most of you would't even last in FFXI pre WotG. Gimme gimme gimme selfish rush rush you suck I am superior (in a video game the vast majority of the world could care less) attitude seems to abound. Community on servers needs alot of improvement.

That aside; Honestly, I don't blame anyone for selling runs nor do I blame anyone for wanting a legitimate in-game official parser. The way I see it, players who sell runs are taking advantage of the impatience of their buyers - and it's perfectly fine! If they don't have the kind of patience to work for their clear, then by all means, go ahead and buy a carry. I don't dictate what anyone does with their gil.

Judging your performance as a Tank or a Healer is pretty easy enough. For the Damage Dealers? Not in the slightest. You need to have a third-party program just to gauge your own performance which is against the rules. Though, you do kind of have to admit that the skill level of the playerbase in FF14 is pretty damn low. Just look at Steps of Faith! D:

Learn to read what's actually there, not what you imagine. OP wasnt talking about price of meteria or housing or whatever. He was talking explicitly about content sellers. Thus my reply. I did not say only content sellers promote gil buying so your horse, its too high, climb off it.

Many of those who buy kills do so because they are lazy, do you think they will magically become unlazy to farm Gil to pay for that kill? Also I HAVE spoken with kill sellers and they have told me some times they had to wait on the Buyer "to buy more Gil". Content sellers didnt turn around and say "Oh no! not touching that gil" they happily took it. I also know of some who sold a FCOB clear for 120 million while it was on lockout, one of their static played the buyers account to get the clears and drops.

Gil sellers are infesting FFXIV, just read the posts about them. Why do they exist? Because lazy players are buying gil, and why are they buying Gil? One reason is to pay the millions charged for clears.

It's not a superior attitude on our parts, it is a fact given how players seem to be in this Final Fantasy. Want to talk about grind? Actually having to earn your weaponskills, spells, etc? No level synch, gear not being just handed to you? People actually helping others randomly? I see more temper tantrums and abuse in this game than I ever did in FFXI. I don't have a superior attitude, I don't whine when a pt wipes, I don't throw fits. Want to watch cs's? go ahead. Want to learn a fight? Ok. Hell, want to completely clear the dungeon? Let's go for it. And I'm one of those inferior casuals, go figure.

The problem is partly a fault of how the game is set up and partly because frankly ppl lack patience and there is a lack of helping others learn and improve, to advance. Like I said, the community on servers could be better.

I know few seller players who would bother to join others in term of helping a clear, this is however depends entirely to the individual as i see the motives behind them are somewhat intriguing.. Like someone is willing to help because knowing the one who needs it is a verified girl, or even getting in and being arrogant by telling how good his selling party comparing to the current struggling party, or even invitation by some specific people when that someone wont bother if some others ask for it, or feeling generous while letting the carried player to just hit the wall and making a clear while laugh at the said player in their private channel..

Still it's a helping people in need, but someone who criticize their motives can lead to dramas..

It certainly does not yield a good first impression for new players when all they can see in their chat window is RMT and clear advertisement. This is a problem in WoW as well, but it happens on a whole lower scale than in FFXIV. I'm astounded SE hasn't done anything about it, because it's becoming a major annoyance. If it continues like this, I might actually quit because of it.

What is even more surprising is that there really isn't a whole lot to spend any significant gil on in this game, except from some glamours, housing and clear runs. The clear runs don't have to be a one time thing either, as they can be bought multiples times and aren't a one-time gold sink. I really do believe RMT and clear selling compliment each other. I know a lot of people disagree, but at least the RMT skyrocketed once clear selling became more rampant. Both needs dealing with.

So yes, I do believe sell groups are hurting the game long-term.

One thing I dont get when people say that the way SE designed the game (with lockouts and such) is what's forcing players to buy runs....then why is it next to non-existent on JP servers? Last I checked it was the same game...
