Surface Pro 3

I thought I would give the benchmark a try on my Surface Pro 3 only to find out that my surface hates this game or this game hates the resolution of the surface. Windowed Default resolution on high laptop Dx9 got me 1727 but I switched to my max resolution full screen it was so bad I didn't even go past second scene. I tried 1920x1080 standard laptop and it is still not as good and I have black borders around the benchmark like it is in a picture frame. Dx11 doesn't seem to help much either. Got a 1074 with 1920x1080 dx11 standard laptop.

1) Specifications of your Surface Pro. Most people get the maximum ones, some get the 500$.
2) Was it plugged into your Power Supply? Most laptops will not utilize the full CPU power without your Power Supply.

Go with custom settings and kill off all superfluous things like shadows and reflections, get rid of all that stuff to improve performance. If it still doesn't run well that's too bad because Surface tablets seem awesome, it would be very cool playing this game on one.

I was also only testing on my surface to see if it was a viable option when I was away from home. My desktop got me a 4841 on Max 1920x1080 DX11.

Going to guess it was:
"128GB and 256GB/Intel i5 version:
4th generation Intel Core i5-4300U 1.90 GHz (with Turbo Boost Technology up to 2.9GHz) with Intel HD Graphics 4400"

Esp. the Intel HD 4400, this does not provide sufficient hardware to run FFXIV even at decent settings. If anything, it might've had a change with the 8GB Model.
Play around with the settings in the Benchmark, otherwise, it's probably wise to save up for a laptop instead if you plan to play away.

Other option is to just use RDC/Teamviewer to connect to your Desktop at home. But, that's stilll............eh.

I decided to try this on my Surface Pro 2. Same hardware as SP3. Mine is the one with 4GB of RAM and 128GB SSD.



What do you think guys? Are these going to be playable settings?

Try lower the resolution to 1280 or 1024, and using different setting (Max will not work for integerated GPU), like standard(Laptop). There is one benchmarked it in the forum on surface pro 3 and have good result though.

Do you actually plan on playing FF14 on your Surface Pro? If not, and you're just testing it for shits, don't need to fret over benchmarks, it's not even finalized and probably not optimized either. Just give it 2 months and try out the real thing :P

Tablets are not made for gaming. You said you spent $1k on it? Why not just invest that 1k into a computer?
