    This might be a little far-fetched, but am I the only person that sees how this as a perfect example of why the roller-coaster holy-trinity tank-and-spank-everything model eventually fails?

    You can't put in events that require communication and coordination when (almost) everything else in the game caters to facerolling. Maybe if there were more situations where people have to pay attention and be creative, such as events like this one or the presence of support classes, the playerbase overall could benefit from some actual critical thinking/situational awareness and eventually whine less.

    I know, it's probably too late to change the overall model now, but hey I got my chance to say it.

    yeah a bit sad that fun boss like this arent the norm , we need more steps of faith no less!!! , fun bosses > faceroll bosses , however i agree that using cannons + boss adds and no wait to reset the fight ugh , cool idea but the implementation was a bit off

    This post makes me sad. I recently came to this game because the other MMO that I played was ruined by developers dumbing everything down.

    First people complained that stuff was too hard. They made everything easier. Then they complained that raids give rewards that casual players can't obtain. They made everything easier again and gave solo play options to get all of the best loot. People still complained and now the game doesn't even make raids anymore. Everything is geared toward solo play and the little bit of group content can all be soloed. The game is basically dead and has to merge servers this year because it can't support itself anymore.


    I really hope the developers here learn to stop listening to this crowd. This instance isn't even hard. I'm pretty new to 50 and I just did it with a pug...

    How disappointing that every facet has to be simplified to a mind numbingly boring level, so that people won't have to bother learning a fight or communicating in a multiplayer game.

    I agree with what you're saying here, but then I don't think this is a particularly big deal. Yes, the fight is actually ridiculously easy for anyone with a functioning brain, but there's no need for story related trials to be of any noteworthy difficulty. ARR is coming to an end anyway, as long as they don't nerf content mid-expansion I'm cool with it.

    Definitely don't listen to bad players when it comes to anything else though. Look where it got WoW. Nerfing is bad.

    Adjustments could mean a lot of different stuff.

    Adding a vote Reset system? Good Adjustment.
    Increasing Dragon Killer damage so that successfully hitting with all three takes off 75% Vishap's hp instead of the 60% it does now? Good Adjustment in my opinion.
    Decreased "Mini Boss" hp? Possibly a Good Adjustment.
    Decreasing Vishap's hp? Bad Adjustment.

    Not really a significant difference between boosting the Dragon Killers damage and reducing Vishap's overall hp. Just depends on the numbers they do it with. Personally I'd prefer neither choice, but if one of them had to be implemented they'd both lead to the same result. One would just make him die faster from greater DK dmg on his current HP and the other would make him die faster due to the current DK dmg taking out a larger percentage of his adjusted HP.

    Being as Heavensward is on the horizon, adjustments made to Steps at this point is expected. It's not that it is a difficult trial, just very gimmicky and NOT tank and spank. It's sad seeing players, with an average ilvl of 130, fail at this because they'd rather pew pew instead of deal with actual mechanics.

    Actually there is. Increasing Dragon Killer damage increases the importance of hitting with them. Decreasing Vishap's hp increases the viability of all damage sources and could lead to DpS ignoring the mechanics even more than the currently do.

    Consider this also: how many failed Steps have you seen where the group pulls off all mechanics, but Vishap still had less than 15% HP left?

    If all 3 Dragon Killers went off, the bombs blew up appropriately and everyone was on top of their game with cannons, adds and dps, nah haven't seen it (though certainly not denying it is quite possible). All wipes I've seen/experienced have resulted from either misuse of cannons, missed DKs or adds eating everyone's faces.
