SE did the wrong fix. The fight was never too hard; it was too long. Should have been moved to MSQ roulette.

Yes, I've still seen wipes, still seen DPS insist on manning cannons, people missing DK after it's been fully explained, etc.

Last time I was in there was a mix of all of that, just barely won right at the very end and someone says somethin like "yeah we rocked this, gj" /facepalm

Having this issue as well, I always make a point to stay and explain the fight though, I even stick it out in the very case we wipe. Why? I was new to that instance as well and the group I got was really nice and helpful, didn't get frustrated or rage quit and though we nearly lost (I killed Vishap the first time while he casting the very last slam that would break the gate) we still managed. As a result, I try and pay it forward and help out the new people that need this instance. Especially since it's the very last instance of the 2.xx main story quests, I understand not being able to get help for it can be frustrating.

If you leave, you should forfeit your roulette bonus for the day. People can still leave, but you're encouraged more to stick through it.

I never leave a trial because I know that, more times than not, someone is having to deal with it for the first time. Also, it could be worse. It could be Bismark.

I did almost leave Steps of Faith once though because the other tank, who didn't help tank anything, blamed our failure on me. Despite Vishap not being chained once, missing two dragonkillers, and healers being unable to keep people alive because they kept walking in to Vishaps feet.

Yeah, we failed because I dragged the adds to Vishaps neck instead of two inches farther towards his head. Yeah, sure, whatever. I almost left that trial. Almost.

It's really silly to leave. This instance is so easy now.

However, having said that, last night I DID wind up in a SoF group that failed. I couldn't believe my eyes. It probably had, in part, to do with the fact that no one was willing to step up to volunteer for cannons or Dragonkillers. I assigned some cannoneers, and took DKs for myself, gave a quick rundown on what to do (DPS on main dragon, tank pull adds to the front for cannons to nuke, etc). Then, I watched as DPS flailed around attacking adds, the cannoneers bolted and joined the fray as soon as they realized the tank wasn't bringing the adds and never manned another gun - it was hilariously awful.

After Vishap broke down the door at 10% health, I reminded everyone what they were supposed to be doing. No one left, so it was the same crew, and the second try went as smooth as butter. I could hardly believe the same people were participating. Vishap died just after the second Dragonkiller.

This battle is so easy, as long as you pay even the slightest attention to the mechanics of it. I guess some folks just need to be reminded that not everything in the game is zerg the boss and dance around aoes.

It was easy before. Just a matter of following mechanics.

That's easy to say, but the problems with old SoF were the same as the problems with Ex Primals - or even some HM primals, for a time: The mechanics aren't hard, and if you follow them, you'll win, but they are UNFORGIVING. If you failed to follow them, even a little, you lost. And, just as with Titan Ex, if you brought in a gaggle of random people, one or more of them fresh and new to the instance, others with connection issues or other reasons for poor coordination, SoF was going to be a rough ride. With the nerf, you still need to follow mechanics, but you can make mistake after mistake after mistake and still pull it off. It's only when you completely toss them to the curb that you stand a chance of losing.

To be honest, any fight in the game is easy if you "just follow mechanics". That's the very definition of what mechanics are: what you need to do to win. And yet there's folks who struggle with coil when they could win easily if they just followed mechanics, and folks who are proud of their victories there in spite of the fact that all they did to win was just follow mechanics. To dismiss something in the game as inconsequential because it's "just mechanics" is pretty much dismissing the game as a whole.

Everything is easy if you are good at it. Even writing messages in a forum. :P
