Why I Decided to Become an Elitist

Even with enmity-mitigating abilities such as Quelling Strikes and Elusive Jump, all I really need to know that a DPS is underperforming is the enmity bar. If the other DPS's aggro isn't even half of mine then there's a pretty obvious problem.

With most you can watch their rotations, a BLM casting fire 3, blizzard 3, fire 3, blizzard 3, fire 3 etc only. A Smn using only ruin, no dots. A DRG never using debuffs, dots or heavy thrust, all those things show low DPS without even needing a parser. Yes, Ive seen them, they are not imaginary examples.

The fights ARE easy if you do them 100 times. I was telling someone yesterday how I remember when it seemed I didn't have any time in Titan EX. Mad scramble to avoid WotL, mad scramble to avoid LS, OMG add phase! OMG gaols! OMG bombs!

While this term is subjective in many ways, I would argue that it is not COMPLETELY subjective. That is, there are some objective measures of superiority. For example, if I can perfectly execute fight mechanics and you cannot, then I am, objectively, superior to you (at least for that fight).

But apparently, some players do not want superior players in their game.

I have tasted Titan's lava many times. I have prayed for groups to win while I was lying in the dirt. The only thing that ever made my experience better was striving ever harder to be a contributing member of my party.)

I fail to see where he's having inconsistent thoughts. He mentions he's been through the trials and tribulations of learning the fights, which is standard, then says he he's superior to player who haven't had the same amount of practice, in regards to performance in the fight, which is true... SO....what point are you trying to make exactly by quoting a definition that doesn't even fit.

100% agree with the OPs post. Being an elitist and being an asshole are not mutually exclusive. People seem to actively confuse the terms.

if the OP's own logic is consistent, then by admission, they deserve to be expelled or excluded from every group for being new to content because they have not done it 100 times yet, because they aren't "good" yet

If ur not in the 1st 1-2 week learning group then expect to be forced to watch a vid lol.
Gone are the days of turn 1 learning groups cuz it was pretty hard and everyone wanted to work together to get it done lol.

I am amazed at how fast some people bail, I will stay till the end as long as we show improvement.

This right here is the crucial phrase. If people are willing to learn and are making progress, I'll stay with a party for the entire length of the instance and even go back in with them (if it's a PF group) if they want to try again. But it isn't elitist or mean to say "Look, I'm sorry, I'm done for today" if people keep wiping to the exact same mechanic over and over for 20-30 minutes and not learning anything from it.

That's because there is a very high degree of overlap of the two subsets.

so...everyone who wants to learn a fight and wants to be good is an elitist?
because that is what you actually are saying. If I go into a fight, I want to win. if we wipe I laugh about it, remember my mistakes and try to not do them again, because I want to be as good as possible. If new people are with me, I explain everything and hope they try their best.

But I do not see that as elitist..I see that as normal human behaviour o...,o. Try to be the very best like no one every was.
