Macros for Fishing?

Rod bounces?

Oh, sorry. I didn't think of adding quotes, so I replied to the timing of fishing fishies up that I want. More cancelled fishing for unwanted fish means more chances for the actual mooch fish. Which comes to my point that I just count the rod swings/bounces up and down to time the reeling in if it bites.

The above macro is handy if you have vibration on and watch TV at the same time. All you do is click one button when you get all shaky! So yes, it works if you don't care what you're fishing, like example the Luminary rod achievement.

Ok...real noob question here. I play on PS4 but have a keyboard. How do I go about using macros? Do you just type them in the chat bar?

Create them in the main menu "user macros" section. You can then link them to your cross hotbar on the PS4, so you just press the assigned button and the series of moves you created in the macro will trigger.

Pretty much yeah, like ServerCollaps mentioned, but it depends also how big of a fish pool it is. When I fished for Imperial Goldfish, if it took longer than X amount of bounces I cancelled as it would not be the fish I wanted. That left me with 3 fish instead of 4. A fish like Fullmoon Sardine and Cloudcutter bites very quickly, so if it goes past just a few seconds/bounces, can cancel and try again. And so on. Baits and lures have different rod animations also so gotta count and test a lot too!

Personally, I just use:

/macroicon "Cast"
/ac "Hook" <me>
/ac "Cast" <me>

because I'm lazy and only want to hit one button when fishing - I just wait for my controller to vibrate and hit it.
