There's no need to create a brand new character. Your character can level any class and change to whatever class whenever you want. I recommend getting to 50 first so that way, you get 50% bonus exp when leveling a new class. You get used to using your class skills the more you play the class so you'll become better.

Bard is generally easier if you want an easier class to play. You will want to level lancer to at least 34 to get blood for blood so you can do more damage.

Just to clarify, you don't actually need to be lvl 50 to get the bonus exp. You get bonus exp on any class that is lower than your highest leveled class (for combat classes). So if your highest is lvl 30, then all combat classes will get +50% xp until lvl 30.
