Maybe like some 3rd clan of Miqo'te that came from Meracydia and some hidden Au Ra clan would be possible, but for all we know it'll be same old Miqo'te but with reddish tints to their skin and the same old Au Ra with gray scales. I'm still a good bit miffed about how the Xaela, the warring nomads, have women with the exact same cutesy and young mannerisms and looks as the Raen do. I get appealing to your main demographics (Which is why the girls look as they do apparently..), but is it really that hard to make an option for the other demographics too?
Like you said, the third clan could have been one that's been 'lost' for various reasons, whether it is because they've been living on another continent or because they've otherwise been (forcibly or not) secluded for a long time, long enough to develop different characteristics. Just look at the "sky moogles" =D

But I do hope that if they decide to add a third race, that they don't take the "cheap" way out and just make it a recolour. For Hyur, it's one thing, because there you already have two dramatically different subraces. (It would be an interesting option for them to add pureblood Garleans, of course, though I doubt they would do that any time soon. Not while the war is still the underlying focus of the game -- maybe in a couple of expansions, if some kind of peace or at least ceasefire is reached.)

I'm half tempted to make a separate thread for speculations/ideas on what such a third subrace option could entail for the various races: For some I have pretty clear ideas (like slightly more 'bestial' miqo'te and auri), but others (like roegadyn) just have a huge question mark on them for me xD

If the two Au Ra clans could live in radically different environments, have radically different cultures, et cetera and ultimately be seperate to the point where Raen will always have lighter scales and Xaela will always have darker scales.. But otherwise be exactly the same, I don't think even ones hidden away or lost clans have a chance :\

See I was hoping for Hyurs to be the rule and not the exception with future races, specifically with the Au Ra. Like one of the more annoying parts of the Au Ra imho is outside of the scale color the Au Ra aren't different in the least, which makes me think any 3rd clan would just be the same sorta deal. Maybe a 3rd clan could be for Hyurs could be Elezen/Hyurs or something, as I doubt Garleans simply because pure-blood Garleans can't use Aether and they're basically just blonde Highlanders.

It could be a neat thread topic for sure! But.. People tend not to like the idea and would prefer that SE focus on other things like new races (A certain specific lagomorphic one comes to mind..) or fall back on the whole "If it ain't waifus I don't want it!" mentality. I dunno! Maybe a Roegadyn subrace that's a bit larger and more rounder with the guys and girls being closer in thickness could be possible! Maybe make them from the far north or something?
