simple question, How do I take a SS of my toon I created, that is would a pic from my smartphone or such be acceptable?

There's a few options:
1. Use the Snipping Tool. It comes with Windows and you should be able to find it easily with a quick search. You use it to select a part of your screen and take a picture that you can then save and upload.
2. Use printscreen - you can't use it in the window (it just comes out as a black screen), but you can maximize the window, click out of it with it still visible, print screen, then paste it into Paint or Gimp or whatever you may have.
3. Get a free screenshot-taking program like Gyazo, Fraps, or puush (I don't know what the last one is but I've heard it mentioned)

I don't know if smartphone pics are acceptable, but they shouldn't be if they are.

I just use print screen from my keyboard, paste to MS Paint or any picture program, crop, save as jpg.
