Like with most other character options that are a bit different, there'll always be people that like them, people that dislike them and people that are indifferent. I personally mostly lean towards indifferent but I DO think their implementation look really lazy. It really just looks like adding an oval tool circle from mspaint in a flat single color that does not blend with the rest of the iris.
Luckily it's not that evident unless you zoom in so from the normal zoomed out distance you'll see that people have it because of its sharp color contrast but it will not look as lazy as I just described it, til you zoom in.

I think they look awesome. I do wish they were a gradient ring around the edge of the iris though, instead of a flat circle plopped on the almost-edge (it's not quite on the edge of the iris, there's a gap and it bothers me on darker rings) but you can still make it look cool.

I think my Au Ra looks very spiffy with the limbal rings:

This, 110%. The following picture had me sort of excited. It looked to blend seamlessly, creating a sort of empty/lifeless-eye effect.



Limbal rings can still look pretty nice. You just really have to mess with them to get it right.

But then again, I've seen much worse done with odd-coloured eyes combos that I've seen around. Yellow and purple, black and white, red and blue... come on, now >_>; ....

(Just my personal taste. Don't hate! I don't hate people for using eye colors I find ugly anyway!)

I love em. I went with the type of eye Blueavann would make puns about. green and orange eyes, with a a bright blue ring one the one that's covered by the hair. It's so freakin awesome.
