I find it odd that Y'mhitra doesn't know of her sister Y'shtola's fate as of the last big patch. Did the devs forget about her?

Since story wise we pretty much transition from the end of 2.55 to 3.0 in, at most, a week (and probably more like a few days), it may just be that in the timeframe inbetween she hadn't yet heard about it. There is a good chance she'll show up again to help SMN's again in Ishgard, and she'll probably know by then.
Outside that the only job trainer to have new dialouge is the Paladin one, so probably they decided not to change her dialouge.
Kan-E-Senna knows about the charges levied against you, but not what happened afterwards. Since very little information on what happened at the feast has been publicly released, it's possible nobody in Gridania knows of what happened to the Scions, Y'mhitra included.

"There is no hope in stubbornly clinging to the past. It is our duty to face the future and march onward, not retreat inward." -Sovetsky Soyuz, Azur Lane: Snowrealm Peregrination
I can't remember, do our characters know she is her sister? If we do, shouldn't we kind of.. you know... tell her?
I do not think we do know they are sisters, not that I remember and I just finished the SMN storyline, and again from a story standpoint we probably don't actually visit Gridania before going to Ishgard. Gameplay and story segregation and all that.
The Player Character is never actually told that the two are sisters. The only way we know for sure is because of what Y'shtola said in her final cutscene which our characters weren't there for. We might suspect but we don't know.
I actually found it more awkward visiting Little Ala Mhigo. The old warrior guy there has had his dialog change but he asks about how Wilred is and talks about him and the next generation being the future of the Ala Mhigans. Guess no one got there to tell him the truth yet...
I'd think our characters would (or should have) know by virtue of them both being from the Y tribe and both having strikingly similar appearances. I mean I knew Y'mhitra was Y'sholta's sister since 2.0 because it was kinda obvious.
And even if they weren't aware of them being sisters both of them being from the same tribe is enough cause to inform her and/or ask.
The Conjurer guild master is aware that the Scions are missing and have been talking to the elementals to see if he can locate them but has had no such luck currently. Most likely because they aren't within the shrouds (if they are alive at all).
I mean, Y'mhitra mentions her sister, and Y'shtola kinda said "Mhitra" before the big magical explosion. I'm not sure if there's much evidence necessary to figure that those two are sisters...
I doubt alot of people know anything for sure yet, Kan-E-Senna could very well just have decided she should hold off on causing a public panic over the scions being apperently gone until they can say that for certain, and in terms of the story like people said we most likely aren't supposed to be going places for awhile.
As far as E-Sumi-Yan having the elementals search for the scions i can't help but wonder how that would go outside of the shroud.. i mean those elementals are in constant contact with the seedseers and hearers so they know how important the scions are but i can almost imagine elementals in the shroud trying to talk with elementals from elsewhere..
Shroud Elemental: so.. we need you to look for the scions of the seventh dawn for us.
Thanalan Elemental: seventh dawn of whatnow?
Shroud Elemental: that group that has that one person do most of their work for them killing primals.
Thanalan Elemental: why do i care about that? You tree hugging forest types have alot of time on your hands huh? -goes back to growing cactuars-
~~~~~~~~~~
Shroud Elemental: SO... we need you to help us find the scions of the seventh dawn...
La Noscea Elemental: yarrrr what that be? Some sort o' reef matey?
Shroud Elemental: know what... nevermind it's not important..
~~~~~~~
E-Sumi-Yan: so were you able to find them?
Shroud Elemental: ......i hate my relatives, leave me alone! DX
~~~~~~~~~~
It could be awhile before they have anything constructive to tell Y'mhitra
E-Sumi-Yan's a guy and I'm more inclined to believe the elementals outside of the shroud simply aren't strong enough to look for the scions or possibly even reply back to the Shroud Elementals.
You don't even need her saying it because the two of them look so alike you'd think they're twins. Also, being from the same clan (Y) both being Conjurers and Scholars.
