It doesn't answer what happens when you become an Au Ra using the platform you installed Heavensward on, and then try to log in that same character from your other platform that only has ARR on it. Players have speculated in both directions on that issue, but at least as far as I've seen SE doesn't seem to have directly addressed it.
You'll be incapable of logging in, the same if you log out in a HW only area or everything needing the new content.
