It also clearly states on the Heavensward teaser site that they're not related to dragons and cite various examples as to why they're not.
Taken straight from the teaser site:
The curved horns and beautifully patterned scales that characterize the Au Ra oft give rise to speculation that this Hyur-like race native to the Far Eastern continent of Othard are, in fact, the progeny of dragons. This, however, has long been disputed, with scholars citing several distinct differences in the two races as evidence of decidedly dissimilar roots—the first and foremost being the enhanced hearing and spatial recognition granted by an Au Ra's cranial projections (traits not attributed to draconian horns), and the second being the gross disproportion of body mass between Auri males and females (again, a trait widely unseen in dragons).

I concur that scale pattern should be selectable, both for the face & the body.
Especially with regards to having a "scale-beard" or none.
Also, I haaate the awkward hourglass shape their physique gives to armor.
They look awful in any armor if you haven't seen from the benchmark, they look like women with child-bearing hips & 24/7 tight, corset-wearing torsos.

Funny, I actually love their hourglass physique. :xI concur that scale pattern should be selectable, both for the face & the body.

I would have loved if there was more choice in body types, but that's not so much of a thing in this game. An extra feature to lessen the scales at least could be easily implemented.

I'm fine with hourglass physique but WHERE'S THE MUSCLE SLIDER?? ._. (I though their body will be as bulky as ogre or amaljaa lol)I concur that scale pattern should be selectable, both for the face & the body.

As far as I'm aware that came from a reddit post that said he said that after the nico live letter when they weren't recording. Who knows it that's true or not? As for the Heavensward lore. It just says scholars debate weather they are descended from dragons or not. Which if there is a debate means some scholars must think they are descended from dragons.

If their motif is demon or dragon they did a meh job at on both but look more dragon to me. Upclose some scales look so low-res it's not even funny. As far as I'm aware that came from a reddit post that said he said that after the nico live letter when they weren't recording. They kinda looks like a skin disorder. :/ I mean eh...like patches of dry skin on some models and random scale on the females forehead is weird. The tail and horns are the best part...
but some of them barely look like scales at all...it's kinda a mix. I dunno, I still LOVE the female Au ra but some of the scales are kinda off to me...

I'm not going to fantasia to that race because they do not look good in my opinion. If you do not like the way they look then perhaps it would be wise to not create a character with that race.
I wouldn't complain that they need to be adjusted before they are even released into the game though. Ultimately it is up to the game developers to choose how characters appear.
I would just like the option to select the type of horns and not have it based on my face selection;;. They really should make a slider seperate for that so you can squeeze in a bit more customization.
