~Quality of Life Improvements: Leve Plates

Hello all. I've recently started thinking about some quality of life issues I'd like to see addressed in further patch updates for a relatively minor issue.

I recently spent my past weekend leveling up my Botanist to 50 (currently at 46) and was trying to complete the challenge log for completing 5 different leve plates. After scrolling through all of the leves accessible to Botanist I found that there are only 4 different kinds. At 4/5 completion and the only way I'd get the exp bonus is by switching over to another class for a 5th leve plate, however this entails that my Botanist won't receive the exp bonus. In the future I'd like to see an additional leve plate design added to the list of leves a single class can complete as a solution to this dilemma.

    Thoughts?

P.S. This is my first post to the forums. Please let me know if there is a more appropriate message board that threads like these should be placed under, or if these concerns have already been addressed.

well, you could do a lvl 40 leve plate just to fit in a 5th one, it only asks for 5 different leves, there is no actual level limitation :/

The leve plates are the card designs that correspond with the leve. The issue I've found is that across all the leves for Botanist across all levels, there are only 4 different kinds

You... you do know that that's just a graphic to give a bit of flair to the leves, right? It has no mechanical function in the game.

They actually do. Different plates determine if your goal is:
    • collect so many items, endless gathering points
    • collect from x gathering points, minimum y to succeed
    • collect from 8 gathering points, bonus points for high score
    • collect from 4 (occasionally 8) gathering points, bonus points for high score

That's more the graphic fitting the leve, though, not the leve fitting the graphic. It's still just a fancy graphic adding a bit of flair to the leve.

It's not just a graphic. Each leveplate design corresponds to a different type of leve. For example, all of the leves where you collect pages from the Necrowhatever have the same leveplate. All of the leves where you defend items from attacking enemies have the same leveplate. And so on. There's actually quite a bit of lore behind the different leveplates, but it's not made very clear in-game.

The challenge that requires doing five different leveplates means that doing Necrowhatever at five different level ranges isn't going to work, because it's the same leveplate each time. The goal of this challenge log entry is to do five different varieties of leves, not the same type of leve five times even if it's the same type at different levels. So, yes - botanist cannot complete this challenge log solely as a Botanist.

To the OP: The answer is to do a combat leve FIRST, and then do the four different Botanist leves. Won't help you this time around, as you've already done the four Botanist leveplates, but you can remember for the future to knock out a combat leve first thing each week.

Yea that's the natural conclusion to come to. Though I would like to see a 5th plate added in the future so I don't have to split one of them off with a different class altogether.

Not different leves, different leve *plates*. There are only four leve plates for fieldcraft leves: Benevolence, Candor, Munificence, and Piety. Each plate corresponds to what you'll be doing in the leve. Benevolence and Piety are the score evaluation leves, Benevolence having you mine four points and Piety eight. Munificence simply requires you to gather a set number of the goal item and will give you one gathering point at a time, creating a new one as you exhaust the old one, without end until you either gather the required number or run out of time. Candor is also a set number of items, but you get eight points generated at the start and you must gather the required items from just those eight points. If you want a fifth leve plate, you have to do something other than a fieldcraft leve. Fieldcraft actually has it relatively good, there are only three tradecraft plates (Charity, Constancy and Ingenuity) and only one fishing leve plate (which is separate from the fieldcraft leves), Concord. By way of contrast there are ten battlecraft leve plates and four Grand Company leve plates on top of that.

Did I mention that I find leveplates neat? I have leveplate charms for my cell phone that SE made way back when. Constancy, Diligence and Valor, all issued from Limsa Lominsa.
