Low Benchmark Scores-- looking for some advice.

Hey all. I am planning some upgrades to the PC and have been especially in the GPU area after hearing some bad stuff about it, but now that the benchmark has given me some low scores (really abysmally low scores) I'm looking to see what adjustments are best without making too many or buying a whole new PC (the PC isn't that old 2-3 years-ish, but I didn't get the best stuff available either when I bought it)

    First the scores:
    Max: 1238
    High (Desktop): 1370
    High (Laptop): 1691

    The PC:
    Nvidia GTX 660 (1989MB VRAM)
    Intel i5-3570 (3.40GHz)
8GB RAM (actually thought I had more than this, could probably use some more... like double maybe lol)

If anything else should be mentioned, let me know. Thanks in advance to those who can offer some advice.

Your GPU is easily the bottleneck. CPU and RAM is okay. Could you tell us your PSU manufacturer and model?

I'm using Geforce GTX 970 myself and I have no complaints about it. Around 11000 score everything maxed 1980x1200. I believe x290 is very close to GTX 970 from the AMD side from the top of my head.

Your scores should be much higher. I suspect it's selecting you Intel GPU instead of Nvidia. Try creating a profile in Nvidia Control Panel.

There is something wrong in your setup. Those components should be able to play the game very well.

You should be able to get 4-5k as a score @ 1080p

I'm not sure of the manufacturer or model of my PSU. I know it is either 500W or 550W though as I knew I wanted a bit more than necessary for potential upgrades. I'm just debating mainly on which GPU to get as I'm usually a bit more loyal to Nvidia, but I have no qualms using a Radeon should the upgrade be worth the price/power ratio.

Your CPU is slightly better than mine (i5-4430), videocard, very much weaker (I have 970GTX), same ram (8GB) yet I scored 12k, so your biggest upgrade..... videocard. Just get a cheap 970.

yeah i agree , your benchmark is using your intel graphic card instead of the Nvidia gpu

im an amd user , but someone had your problem in the benchmark score thread and some mentioned creating a Nvidia profile for the benchmark (remember that there is an exe for DX9 and another for DX11)

edit : oops Pseudopsia beat me to it.

I'm not really sure what to tell you. Everything points at it using the 660, my computer doesn't even recognize I have an Intel display adapter.

    Edit... That really did make a difference weird... I ran it at max and rolled a 4983 this time. I wonder why it said it was using the Geforce but not o.o;

It does sound like you are using integrated graphics...

However, your scores won't be that much better.

    With Maximum settings dx11
    I have a 3570k (overclocked can reach 4.2)
    GTX 780 EVGA
    Good PSU
8 or 16 GB of ram... I forget at this point

My score was 9669 (something like that)

If whatever you're shooting doesn't die after you pump 8, 32 caliber, slugs into it, it's probably a dragon.

    What resolution?

Numbers too low for a GTX660

I would go wipe the drivers with a driver cleaner like DDU and try installing the latest ones.
