Abolishing anything not in another game... why?

Can you tell me why it is that so many good features are being simply washed away? Is it that they are not of the current administration so they must be abolished? Or is it that they are to complicated to program for? Maybe they are to complicated for the players?

Never mind why you are removing these features I feel as though we were not given any input on this, and this was simply a mater of "here is how it is." I like the "here is a tag so you can talk about it," but the over all finality of the letter posted said, "This is how it will be, end of discussion."

    My problem with this action.

Every one says over and over how they like to maintain the individuality of FFXIV and that they have no desire to strip the solo-ability of the game. Yet that's exactly whats happening little by little. The current system slated to be axed is one of the few remaining features that made FFXIV unique, and personalizable. Namely I could beef up each of my other jobs, to grow my character, the experience allowed me to unlocked the credits needed to advance skill's in magic and the other attributes. I personally kept my physical skills slightly higher than normal, and beefed up my Fire and Thunder skills while keeping the others fairly balanced. This made my character personal.

But the proposed changes will permanently equalize all players regardless, we will have no further individuality and more changes to come will further that agenda.

This game sinks now dangerously into FFXI territory and the things that sunk FFXI like the over balancing and the over standardizing of characters to the point were it no longer mattered what your job was there was no actual advantage to even logging in. Other than face level and gear you were just like every one else and your damage was pretty much the same too. Mages were stripped of their advantages and became third class citizens to the damage dealers massive egos.

You may not be able to see this being the programmers and not the players, plus you come from a society where every one works together and there are no solo players. But here in the USA, especially in adults, we do not have the time to sit around dedicating 20 or more hours a week to raids and group activities. If we could do that we would be playing World of Warcraft. I need a game that can be personal, individual and played solo or with a group.

One bit at a time this game is becoming like every other game out there, and gradually turning into FFXI. If that's the plan, count me out, I will drop when the changes are final and we are charged again.
I don't like where this is going at all. Not the story line, but the fixing of systems that never needed fixing. What about the combat auto targeting that has never been fixed? What about the connectivity issues. What about the Direct X issues? When are the real problems going to be addressed?
Now regardless if you understand my opinion, or care, I have said my piece.

i think you missing an important piece: with next patch they removing phisical level and put a fixed amount of stats, BUT on the patch after this, the poil allocation will come back, so you can customize your class again.
On elemental point allocation seems a different thing thou

The whole reason for this change is to give us more flexibility.

Yea, 1.19 will also introduce set stats for each class, but that's only temporary. Eventually we will be able to reallocate our stats on our own again, but specific to each class. That's MUCH better than our current system where it can take days to fully re-spec from a DD build to a healer build.

The current problem becomes more and more apparent as you get closer to rank 50, which is why you might not see why it's a big deal. Rest assured, this change is for the better.

I fail to see how removing functionality makes the game better. I only see the restriction of attributes. I could have cared less if my over all attributes were tied to the job. But it was nice having a mage that could actually give a meaty thwack. Though the ability to thwack an enemy is almost gone and now to the elements are also going away. I concentrated my power on Fire and Thunder meaning anything with thunder attribute had little effect on me and I could easily take down enemies with a water type attribute. Though some how my ice power is pretty strong too.

What I am seeing is this return to the Over balancing thing. This desperate attempt to perhaps justify ones jobs long after they had expired. FFXI refined and refined the jobs. Making them so perfect that it mattered not what job you took. You were one of 4 jobs, DD, WM, Tank, BM. DD and Tanks were Royalty over Mages though over all combined power was the same. I will not play another FFXI game as a 3rd class citizen. I will not play a game that likes to cheer or individuality while quietly trying to remove all traces of it.

I'll say it again. making FFXIV to be just like FFXI is a disaster in the making. But it seems that we must fall on our faces twice before we will listen to warnings of our shoes being untied.

Ohh ya and who messed with the Twilight music in Gridandia forests. It was cool and mystic now it's... something else.

The game is being stripped just announced another fairly unique feature, also removed. This is quickly becoming a shell of itself a mere parody.

I was all for changes and reworkings but the impression I got was that they had better ideas that would replace certain systems. I could have never guessed they meant to remove several systems completely and offer no replacements.
I have a hard time believing no one has suggested simply doing a cut and Paste of the FFXI combat system.

Key words of the day, streamline and standardize.

The cloister bells are calling. The end is near as FFXIV becomes a the ultimate shadow of FFXI.

Devs, really, I was asking from the start why no one was using FFXI base code or lessons learned from FFXI to build a better game. But this devolving and simplification of the game is not at all the solution I had imagined you guys would use.
I really hope your teams have something far better than FFXIV coming down the line cause. Like KH3 cause this is getting old, unbelievably fast. I mean really everything that FFXIV could have been, could have become, only to end up like a shadow of FFXI. Better description, FFXIV is an Onion Peel universe. Come to think of it, onion peel universes were referred to as shadows... I think whats needed is some new inspiration.

I comletel agree. I've been asking them this since like ever...asking them to add new features instead of replacing them.

But with another poll being on the way, we can just expect another pat of the game being chopped off.

I can bet all questions will be still "Current or FFXI one?"

I couldn't disagree more! Also I think you will find most of the way through XI Mages were infact the "royalty" apart from zerg parties, i left once the cap went above 75 but 90% of the time playing as a DD was very much being the least in demand.
