So yesterday I saw someone shouting in Limsa about 'typical Raen Au Ra's with face 1' and I kinda annoyed me. You know.. Maybe people play characters they are satisfied and comfortable with and are not trying to win the most unique or uncommon character award -_-

Anyway, great Au Ra's everyone!

People complaining about "typical face 1 Au Ra" are just hipsters who just dislike everything that is popular for the sake of being "special". We only have 4 face choices with just a little variations for each facial feature so there is not really any room for true diversity outside of skin/hair/eye colors.

Completely agree, it doesn't help that the faces are attached to the horns. I love face 3 but I absolutely hate the horns on it.

There is a fc who always 'advertises' with a text that goes like 'we - insert fc name - don't want any new members and hate everything u stand for and bla bla' something along those lines and I shouted something back and they were like 'No, you are not special bla bla' and I asked if I was at least a bit more special than a Raen face #1 Aura

I actually didn't wanted to hate on anyone, since like u all said a lot of peeps seem to like the face and/or the hrons the best so they take it - it's pupular so not very special, which is totally fine - I myself made a Raen face #1 on benchmark which I loved but I indeed didn't took her for 'hipster reasons' (i.e. face is pretty but so many ppl are rolling with it, I'll try it with an other face) and I just fall in love with face 3 - it would help a lot if the horns were seperate from the faces but alas we can't have everything- I'll stick with the crablclaws since I really don't mind them that much

Also I saw really great and creative Raen #1 in this thread, maybe the palyers on my server are just...conseravative when it comes to looks lol <- personal opinion

Well, not hating on the Face #1 Au Ra, but it's likely popular because of the discreet horns and having the lowest amount of scales covering the face. With the right hairstyle, your scales become practically invisible and the horns blend in with the hair, giving you a rather Hyuran look... except that you get the moe body language you've always dreamed of. Comfort zone, and all that.

It might also just be that the average person picks the default face and works with it, though. I mean, the default faces tend to be quite common for most races, in my experience. Dunno whether it's laziness or default faces usually being the most attractive. I haven't experimented very much with all of them!

Personally I first was really into their race (dragon ppl! :O) but found their emotes so be way to girly so I dind't switch untill last week.
I would say I don't get why even play as aura if u don't really want to look like dragonish person but your quote explains it pretty much (to me)

I have a smiliar feeling about this - it might be the fact that the default faces are usually the prettiest and lot of ppl don't bother looking what the options for other faces are. That's why I always thought femroes are so unpopular: the default FemRoe u see isn't exactly eyecandy (compared to what u actually can make them look)

Well I personally chose face 1 for many reason, first I find it the most beautiful, you can basically make her look cold, feminine, badass warrior-like while being graceful and delicate at the same time and that's totally what I wanted. The other reason is because it's the one that's the closest to my girlfriend's face. I like having a character that looks like her at some degree and I believe she likes it too when she looks at me playing the game and taking care of her appearance with glamours and stuff.

I've had many people saying that face 1 is the most common Au Ra face like we should feel bad about having it. I generally answer them that I'm sorry for having good tastes.

You can't match that level of beauty and gracefulness with any other face. And also b**ch please. I'm still more original than the plethora of Miqo'te and Midlanders, even with Lightning's haircut.

I have face 1 and put more scales on my face, the ones on the sides of the face, with the options because I liked the way they looked. Mainly picked it because i like the horn style and face.

@ValyrianBlood, it could have been XD But even so, I've seen a ton of people who complain about people having face 1, if it WAS your comment I saw, it's not just you that made me write the comment. No harsh feelings ;p

It was the same with Miqo'te before Au Ra's were released. You know, just let people play what they like ^^. It is kind of disheartening to some when they make a cool character and everyone is telling them it's typical and everyone looks the same.
