I can barely see the battle anymore, all I see is text flying everywhere on screen and massive graphic effect.
There is a way to remove battle effects (this is basically everything but the casting animation). It can be applied to yourself, other party members, and/or non-party members (this includes members in other Alliances).

    This is located:
"Character Configuration" [K] -> "Control Settings" (it should be open on this tab upon opening the window) -> "Character" -> Scroll down to "Show Battle Effect Settings" (There is the option of "Show All" or "Show Limited" for yourself, party members, or other players. "Show None" is an un-clickable option.)

There is also an option to remove all flying text. However, doing so will also remove your character's action text as well. Which means you can't see dodging attacks, missing hits, heal numbers (this is most troublesome on a Scholar), buffes/debuffs gained/lost (I find this annoying on my BLM because I like to get mad when Firestarter procs twice), ect. However, I have to turn it off when I raid as the flying text does add a fair bit of latency. Keep in mind all this information can also be seen in the chat log, but it's a real headache in there as well.

    This is located:
"Character Configuration" [K] -> "UI Settings" -> "HUD" -> Uncheck "Display Flying Text"

Feel free to play with these options on yourself. Even though they can effect other players, they also effect yourself so you can easily see if you like/dislike how they look without having to go into a dungeon.
