I'm just wondering if there is any relation to them.

...Maybe? According to the Final Coil of Bahamut, the Meracydian dragons created Bahamut in an attempt to summon "one of the first brood." Midgardsormr claims to be the lord/genesis of all dragons, and says he sired seven children. Many have connected these two believing that Bahamut is thus one of Midgardsormr's children - and that the seven therefore comprise the first brood.
Now, we'll actually see the Seven Celestial Dragons (Midgardsormr's children) in Heavensward. Until then, I expect a lot of people are going to be trying to figure out which is more likely, the true Bahamut will return, or Bahamut was not, in fact, one of the seven.
ACTIVITY TIME: SPOT THE BAHAMUT
(For what it's worth, I believe the white one in the top-left to be Nidhogg - we're down to six)

Here's a pic of Midardsomnr and his children. The middle one is midgardsomnar....can't make out the rest.
We know that Middy was the 1st dragon in the world. He had 7 children. Meracydian dragons worshipped Bahamut as being "one of the 1st brood" that spawn their clan.
It was said that we'll meet his 7 children throughout the story, so it's possible that Bahamut was a child one of Middy's kids.
The way it seems to be in the timeline is:Here's a pic of Midardsomnr and his children. The middle one is midgardsomnar....can't make out the rest.

Midgarsormer came into being
Middy sired 7 great children who sired their own. Bahamut was the firstborn.
Bahamut was killed from an unknown cause.
The Allagan Empire used magic and technology to coerce dragons to summon enough aether to resurrect the long deceased Dragon Bahamut to become Primal Bahamut.
Allagans prevented Bahamut from dissipating into Aether by putting thousands of dragons into stasis, and trapping Bahamut in a custom cage.
The cage was hoisted into the heavens and would collect aetherial energy from Bahamut, and transmit it to the Crystal Tower.
When the Allag empire fell, knowlege of the technology was forgotten, and the cage Bahamut was held in fell into obscurity. History mistranslated the name of the cage as a moon, called Dalamud.
I did see a translation of an interview that listed Bahamut as one of the seven wyrmlords in Heavensward along with Tiamat and Nidhogg. Judging by that Id say that the original Bahamut was indeed one of Midgardsormr's children. My guess is that he either died and a primal form of him was summoned or he was turned into a primal.
There is nothing saying all 7 celestial dragons are still alive.
It was Yoshida's PAX East interview with Famitsu. Bahamut is one of the seven, but became a Primal for reason's we'll get to see in a side-story come Heavensward. Curious to see how that story will tie into Final Coil, though, since we have gotten some pretty big reveals already.
Could just end up like CT to Coil, though, where the WoL already knows the answer but just lets the Scholar-Sidekick-of-the-Week stand around looking puzzled for a bit before moving on.
I think it was fairly well-explained by Louisoix / Phoenix in the T12 cutscene.
"Desperate for salvation, the dragons prayed to one of the first brood - to their ancestor Bahamut. Infused by the power of their fervent supplications, Bahamut arose from the abyss of death and took wing as the Meracydians' newborn god."
It's not directly stated, but by calling Bahamut "one of the first brood," it can be inferred that he was indeed one of the Wyrmlords / Celestial Dragons. However he died from unknown causes at an unknown point prior to the late Third Astral Era, and when the Meracydians prayed to him for salvation he either literally came back from the dead as a primal or one was made in his likeness. I figured it was similar to "Saint" Shiva and the primal Shiva's existence.

Well that pretty much confirms that at least the original Bahamut was dead by that point.
One thing Im very curious about is if we will get any info on any of the other Eras and civilisations. The dragons have apparently lived through most if not all of them. At the moment we know practically nothing about most of the Calamities and the civilisations that existed in the Eras before them.
It would be cool if we touched on the Wind Calamity in this expac since its so sky based.
I would like to point out that death is doing absolutely nothing to stop Midgardsormr form answering the Song. So why would death impede Bahamut?
I mean he's already been called from death as a primal so who's to say that his spirit couldn't be given a new corporeal vessel some how as Midgardsormr is?
If we go by the "patch chronology" conceit which will need to be played in order for Alisaie or Nero to show up again in the Main Scenario (if their respective raids must stay optional), then there's actually nothing preventing Bahamut from being summoned again at some point in Heavensward or the upcoming patch cycle.
Let's just let that sink in.
