Sword Oath -> Hide shield option?

Would this not make sense? I guess sword oath is more for DPS/OT stuff, so you wouldn't really need a shield.

It'd be kind of cool if, when you were in sword oath, your shield didn't show and your sword was sheathed on your back.

Wouldn't that be sick? Or... just add some kind of Emperor's New Shield or something like that

I guess I'm just a fan of greatswords and sad my paladin can't use em... but hey, cool idea though, right?

Devs have said no to hiding shields because it wouldn't make sense for lore reasons (i.e. can't use shield lob/bash/swipe without a shield).

From a World setting and story perspective, not having a visible shield would mean that you couldn't use shield bash or shield lob, and as such we have no plans to introduce an "Emperor's New Shield." However, we may be able to make a small shield so that it doesn't stand out too much, so we will look into that.

Tbh I don't think it would break the lore to be able to lob, swipe and bash without a visible shield. I mean WAR's and DRG's pull a tomahawk/javelin out their backside and lob it, why can't we be storing our shield in this butt void? Same for bash and swipe. We can have our weapon sheathed and pull it out and put it away again at the speed of light to block an incoming attack, but we can't do the same for bashing and swiping when it's NOT attached to our back first??

But sadly, since they've said no, the best we can hope for is a tiny buckler like the things tidus had in FFX

I really like the shield, tbh. I feel really badass and tank-like with it. Blocking stuff with my arm just would look weird, plus the "combat stance" would be all wrong. It sort of balances out the animations too, without one, just swinging a sword, it looks a bit odd.

I also have problems with rage of halone. I mean...come on. That skill looks ridiculous. I've forgotten all my training, all my discipline, and now "I WHIP MY SWORD BACK AND FORTH!" like a teenager trying to LARP.

to its defense, it's the same animation as it was in 1.0, but sped up. if i remember correctly it was unlocked at level 36. while riot blade was unlocked at 50 and has a side effect of pacification after use.
