    question about dyeing your chocobo

I found out today you can dye a chocobo from yellow to whatever color they have to offer by feeding him different types of food. so i went on google to find a color chart and how to dye my chocobo to the color i like. well i notice for a example the color royal blue. it explains to me you must feed the chocobo O'Ghomoro Berries x30, Xelphatol Apple x10 ,O'Ghomoro Berries x25, Mamook Pear x10, Xelphatol Apple x10, O'Ghomoro Berries x85 in order for the chocobo to turn from yellow to royal blue. so my question is do i just feed him all 30 O'Ghomoro Berries up front and wait 6 hours then feed him 10 Xelphatol Apple's and so on or do i feed him 1 at a time every 6 hours .

The big thing to realize is everyone will in the long run need different amounts of fruits to get to any specific color.

Here is a pretty good site to show what typically works from the start to desired color:

    http://ffxivchocobo.com/

The big reason why results vary is you can get different "procs" from each fruit. I suspect it is similar to crafting where you can have normal, good, excellent, and poor conditions for each fruit. One other big thing is if you do not see a growing new feathers message you did not push the chocobo off its starting color.

You can feed all of the fruits in one go (it's one at a time so it will take a while but you can keep feeding even after message says feathers will change) however make sure to alternate between them occasionally so you don't go to the max end of one color spectrum (Red/Green/Blue) where further fruits of the same color alteration makes no difference.
There's also some RNG involves so be prepared to possibly need more fruit after the first attempt. You could of course also try and not feed it all at once and do most of it in one go, wait 6hours and check if it's the color you want then adjust accordingly if it isn't.

The site given above explains what to do pretty well. It's not a 100% guarantee to get the color you want on the first try, closer to 90%, but it is worth the effort.
